Im torn between #2 and #3, #3 gives us alot of flexability and gets us 4 possible big time contributers, but #2 gives us 2 possible stars....

Option 1 is out of the question. No way in hell does Carlos Rogers drop to the second round. I doubt he drops out of the top 20.
I don't think Sean Cody is worth a 1st round pick. Scrap that one.
Option 3 looks ok but we'd have to have a trading partner for that.
Option 4 makes no sense. Why draft two DEs in a row?

Marcus Spears is a 3-4 DE and Tuck would be outside LB.

Option 3 would be sweet. I would really like Baas and Webster in the 2nd.

One of these days, I will have to get one of those draft previews so I have a bloody idea about whom you are typing

I think that would be solid...not great or glitzy, but solid.
I put this out there because I'm curious as to how folks will feel if we draft almost all defense with the exception of MW or BE...these defensive players I've listed are mainly 3-4 guys...except CB's of course...does not matter the scheme really.
I personally think this is how we will draft...finding players that will fit into the 3-4 scheme.

Well Mrs CanadianCowboysFan allows me the luxury of watching 10+ hours of football on Sunday, no way she lets me do the same on Saturday ;) I like my testicles right where they are thank you very much.

I like option 3 & 4.
If we could land a good WR in free agency (Jerry Porter?) than it would be a no-brainer....Merriman, Johnson and Webster would improve the Cowboy defense immensely.

I just think that Edwards would be a risky pick. (Mich. WR) Williams would be good, but he won't stretch the field much. If anything, I would go DT Hawthorne, DE Merriman, OG Baas, and CB Webster or whichever other top CB drops. I would take a flyer on WR Williamson in with the 20th or trade down and get him.

I would like to take Derrick Johnson and Shawne Merriman in the 1st. It might be a long shot, but hey, it could happen. Then DE's in the 2nd. Marcus Spears maybe. Coakley, Nguyen, Johnson, and Merriman. That would be nice.
We can always pick up a solid CB and WR in the free agent market...hopefully.

This year I have a philosophy that we are going to take the best CB with our 2nd round pic...there will be a good one that falls. I think we could make due with any of these guys...PacMan Jones, Carlos Rogers, Corey Webster, Justin Miller, Brandon Browner, or Marlin Jackson...one will fall.
I think the FA CB market costs way to much money and we will avoid it...JMHO.

I prefer the USPS.
I would love it too. Give me Travis Johnson in the 2nd or Carlos Rogers. I doubt either will be there but give me any 2 of those 3 and I will love this draft.

True. But if we're switching to a 3-4, we'd have to make a lot more changes.
I still don't like any of those options. :D

I agree with that. I don't want a rookie DT taken that high anyway. I'd prefer we get a DT in FA (Ferguson maybe?). But if our first two picks were Derrick Johnson and Carlos Rogers I'd jizz in my shorts, literally.
I don't think Rogers will drop to #20 though. Maybe I didn't see enough of him, but I think he's the best CB in the draft. Strong, physical, good tackler, fast, good coverage, etc... but not many people agree with me on that. We'll see what happens.
I hope I'm right that he is the best CB in the draft, and I hope everyone else is right and we get him at #20 or in the 2nd round. :D

Option 5: Williams, Merriman, and Justin Miller. I'd love this
I would take DJ if he's there and after that what ever happens that makes since. I really have not taken the time to think out the 2nd pick yet and it would depend on who is there then. I mean maybe someone slides that we don't expect to now.

My favorite option. Option #6.
#11...Derrick Johnson, LB Texas
#20...Mike Williams, WR USC (please drop this far)
#41...Antaaj Hawthorne, DT Wisconsin

The first 2 picks would be my dream draft I think. Mike not playing last year may give us a chance, at least I hope so too.

I dont know Hawthorne is worth even the high 2nd round pick. That guy is no more than Run Stuffing DT I guess. I never understood the hype he got. Its sames as I forget the name, Wendel Bryant of Wisconsin previously?
At leat Bryant I think I saw good Pass Rushing moves when he was in college. Personally, I think low 2nd round or high 3rd round is where he should be. But then with shortage of good DTs, he will probably go high.

Hmmmm... big run stuffing DT. Sounds like what we need. DT seems to be becoming a sexy pick for some reason. But seriously, I think Carson was as much to blame for our line problems as wiley was, do you want to depend on willie "i myself" blade to fix it?
