Local developers who plan to build an NFL stadium in the City of Industry, near Los Angeles, believe they’re close to having a team.

“I strongly believe an NFL franchise will play in Los Angeles for the 2011 season,” Majestic Realty vice president John Semcken told the Boston Globe. “I’ve been working on this for 14 years, and it’s been a long road. I know we’re very, very close.”

The teams targeted by Majestic include the Bills, Vikings, Rams, Jaguars, 49ers, Raiders, and Chargers. Los Angeles hasn’t had an NFL team since 1994, after the Rams and Raiders both moved out of the area.

Rams ownership recently agreed with Shahid Khan on a deal to sell the team. Khan intends to keep the team in St. Louis, but he still needs to be approved by NFL ownership.

The Vikings have been looking for a new alternative, and the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that there might be an interesting way for the team to improve revenue streams.

It'll be Jacksonville.

I agree I would think Jacksonville would be the logical choice.

I am just so glad that the Saints are no longer on "that" list. Up to 2 years ago the Saints were the 1st team talked about moving. In early 2009 a long term deal was done.

The irony is that one of the reasons the Raiders left in the 1st place was because the NFL didn't want to build a stadium in Irwindale. Which is closer than the City of Industry. :o:
