03/01/2010 - Defensive linemen aren't typically known for their flamboyance, but Texas' Lamarr Houston appears to be the exception. While every other lineman from Group 7 wore the standard black shorts and some variation of black shoes when running their 40-yard dash Monday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Houston decided to channel his inner Terrell Owens. The 305-pound defensive tackle sported long white tights and wore yellow shoes so bright that they were practically blinding. If Houston wanted to make a statement of how well-conditioned he was, consider it a success. NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks observed that Houston looked outstanding in his flashy outfit and that there was little, if any, fat evident on his large frame. Houston unofficially ran the 40 in 4.85 seconds, an exceptional number for a defensive tackle, and he also posted an unofficial 9-foot, 6-inch broad jump, a great distance for his position. - Jason Feller, NFL.com

I think he would be a excellent 3-4 end.

He is a very high motor guy and gives it his all for 4 quarters.

I think he's the exact type of guy the team will think about in the 3rd/4th

With that size and speed, I don't know if he will be there in the 4th. I hope so. Another guy I am really liking is Clifton Geathers.

Been saying for awhile that he's very similar to Jay Ratliff.

He won't even make it to our 3rd round pick. After Earl Thomas, I think he's the best prospect UT has in this draft. Better than Kindle or McCoy. I love Houston, but I don't think we can afford to draft him that high.

Going into the offseason, I was quite high on Houston... being a Horns fan, I saw him play a lot, and he's very, very active...

But then I got to thinking that his best role is as a 4-3 DT, that he might not be well-suited for NT...

After his workout at the combine, though, I'm revising my opinion yet again... he put up even better numbers than I expected, and now I'm thinking he might even be able to play DE in the 3-4, indeed he might be tailor made for that role...

So now, I see him as a fit for the Boys, in a rotation where he sees some snaps at
DE, and gives Rat a breather for a few snaps at NT...

Imagine having Spencer, Houston, and Rat all on the same side collapsing the pocket....then having Ware coming free from the other side.

Hush, or you'll cause another stirring in Hos's loins, and none of us want that...

Least of all Mrs. Hostile... :D

Yup, totally agree! He can play multiple positions for us AND I just really love that he's high-motor guy...
