I may be behind in all this, but I was wondering what his situation was? Is he able to play this year? I dont believe anyone has signed up, though I could be wrong. If not I firmly believe the cowboys should sign him..... sure went to jail but i do not believe shooting YOURSELF in the leg constitutes a 2 year prison sentence. Laws are laws I understand. But if Roy doesnt perform up to expectations again.... Plax can step up and probably be the #1, not knocking Austin at all.
Thoughts?

He still has another year to go and he's 32 years old. He's done! His wife is also losing their home to foreclosure right now. He screwed up big time!

How? He must have had some money before the last contract. He was in the league for years. Idiot should have invested in a belt.

He's in jail about 20 minutes from my house. If he does get out in time, he'll be rusty as hell. He might have one or two seasons left in him, but how good they are is another question.

First, :welcome: to the CowboyZone!!!
Second, that isn't why he went to jail.

The guy is an idiot for sure but the crime does not fit the time. Plax sits in jail and Donte Stallworth is coming back to play after killing a guy. The legal system needs some sorting out.

The crime definitely fits the time. Illegal possession of a handgun in NYC usually warrants a 3-year sentence. He's lucky he only got 2 and might get out a bit early.
Stallworth was charged with vehicular manslaughter. Sorry, but the law is the law.

From what I've read, Burress turned down a plea deal that would have resulted in only 3 months jail time.
Anyone that stupid I'd rather not have on the team.

DFW 1st post or not. NFL is a league of consistancy.... Plax has proven to be consistantly good, miles has given us ONE solid year. I believe he will provide many more I imagine and his youth is an unmeasurable especially for positions like WR where players fall off real quick.
Either way, prob a good idea to keep him away, I wasnt aware he was that old, def would not have posted it knowing he was 32.
Makes me sick to see boldin go for a 3rd and 4th or whatever it was. Roy NEEDS to step up to justify what we did. IMO

He didn't go to jail for shooting himself in the leg, he went to jail for carrying an illegal (unregistered) firearm... and in the state of New York, that gets you a jail cell...
Try it in New York, and find out for yourself...
Laws are laws I understand. But if Roy doesnt perform up to expectations again.... Plax can step up and probably be the #1, not knocking Austin at all.

Plaxico Burress is an ignorant punk, always has been, and I don't want him anywhere near the Dallas Cowboys... and as far as I know, he's not out of jail yet...

That just means that Stallworth got off easy, not that Burress got screwed... the law is very clear in New York, and he broke it...

and the very fact that the gun discharged in a crowded night club is the very reason for the law....thankfully the only one who got hurt was that dumb ***...........it could have very easily have been a 21 year old college kid just out on the town.........

I would look to the draft before I would look to Burress. Cowboys do not need to be the halfway house for problem players in the NFL, we have done a good job of getting rid of these types of idiots no need to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

Carrying a gun does. If he had a permit he probably would not be in jail. But he would still be an old washed up WR with a hole in his leg.

I hear you.
But I don't think carrying a gun deserves a two year sentence either. That was political chest-thumping in New York at his expense.
He did have a gun permit by the way, just not in that state. Yes, he was an idiot...seeing that his home team was in that state.
I don't really an interest in him one way or other as a player.
