So the consensus top 2 are without a question Eric Berry and Earl Thomas.

But where would you guys rank guys like Nate Allen, Morgan Burnett, Chad Jones, Taylor Mays etc.

In other words if we can't land Thomas in the 1st, who would you target in the 2nd, 3rd, and why ? For me, It's Nate Allen. If Jerry gets desperate enough don't be surprised to see his name called at 27. Morgan Burnett would be fine with me as well, but not in the first.

agree, none of the others after berry and thomas are worth a number one pick slot, but you might see kyle wilson in there, and cowboys were said to be looking at cb due to newmans age along with middle inside linebacker.

I like Allen or Burnett in the 2nd.

I like Allen alot. I could see our guys targeting him too, hoping he'll turn out as well as Jenkins did.

If all our guys on the board are gone, I see a small trade down and picking either Allen or Pouncey at the top of the second

Go ahead and hate, but at 27 I'd really consider rolling the dice on Mays if none of the other guys we like are there.

Mays would make an outstanding nickel linebacker.

I would be okay with a reach for Nate Allen in round 1 than trade out and run the risk of having nobody to pick from...although I still like Robert Johnson from Utah in Rounds 3-5.

I wouldn't have a problem with that either. I think people are over exaggerating his flaws, if that makes any sense. If he doesn't work out at FS he'd make a sick Nickel LB or imagine him as a 3-4 rush LB, lmao.

I like Johnson as well, but no way he makes an impact his first couple years. Maybe if we sign a RFA to a 2-3 year contract (Sharper, Atogwe) and then Johnson could fill in that hole when that player gets released.

I don't think we're signing either of those guys. Sharper is almost 35, and Atogwe is a gigantic question mark with his shoulder injury combined with playing in a weak division on a defense that opponents definitely felt they could "air-it-out" against.

I think we'll build through the draft.

I don't know if he'd make a great nickel LB or not, I've never seen him play LB. But you'd think he was getting flat out embarassment (and maybe sometimes he was) at safety with the amount of hate he gets. I'm not high on Mays, but the amount of hate he gets, you'd think he was a bum that never did a thing in college.

Go on youtube and watch universaldraft presents........taylor mays and tell me if you still want the guy. FYI, this is a compilation of various plays for a few prospects over about 3 games, not some highlight/lowlight reel kind of deal.

I didn't say I wanted him, I said I'd consider it seriously as opposed to dismissing the possibility completely. In the end it doesn't really matter what I think.

Yup, and if those who are more qualified than us decide to take Mays at 27, it will make for a fun few days in the Zone. I don't think we have to worry, though, as he'll probably be long gone by then.

really? I swear the other day you made a thread for Sharper and were all for it. As much as i want one of the two I think you're right.

Morgan Burnett had a very good workout today.

4.45 in the forty, 3.94 in the short shuttle, 6.87 in the three cone, 11-feet in the broad and 39.5 in the vert.

Everyone wondered what kind of athlete he was, because his instincts and and playmaking ability were never called into question. He shut a lot of people up today. I would be all over him in the 2nd round.

If Mays is there, I GUARANTEE that the Cowboys take him, which makes me terrified. I'm praying that some team takes him in the early 20s so he won't be an option for us :banghead::bang2:

Nate Allen, Morgan Burnett, Chris Cook are the three safeties I would go after that aren't 1st round projections.

I just watched it on youtube and I must say the guy looks like an all-star on the football field minus the play where he bit on the fake against Ohio state which went for a long TD. The TD pass play against ND was not such a bad play as much as it was a great throw by J. Claussen and a great catch by Golden Tate.

I did make a thread all for Sharper, but I had a talk with a couple respected football minds here through PMs and I've slept on it a couple days instead of getting fired up over a YouTube highlight video.

I would much rather build through the draft. I also think we've got plenty of talent to play FS on this roster but they're buried on the depth chart (Alan Ball).

Do you think Alan Ball could replace Hamlin in 2010? IMO it all depends in the 1st few rounds. If Jerry goes safety, then Hamlin is out, if he doesn't, then I think Ball is the guy.

Could be worse. We could take another TE.
