Anyone ever had a beer that you just knew was going to be bad only to have it surprise you? I tried Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale a few nights ago at an Italian restaurant after finding out they did not carry the other two beers that I was fixed in on. It was actually really good.

That new Bud golden wheat.

I usually prefer either a ice cold PBR, Yuengling, or a nice import...something full-bodied like Guinness or Smithwicks.

I hate most wheat beers. Blue Moon makes me gag.

...but that golden wheat wasn't half bad for a light, wheaty beer.

Yep, I bought some of the Python Ale a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I have seen a Roswell Alien Amber at the store I want to try but haven't yet.

I'm dead serious when I say Golden Wheat tastes like a mixture of any real wheat beer and Bud Light. Not in the good way either, it tastes like some homeless guy mixed it up in his boot.

I can only imagine what a bowel movement smells like after a night of Guinness drinking.

Maybe I'll give it another shot but damn, I usually don't like a loaf of bread with my beer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilsner_Urquell

most beer stores that I've been to have it, yet a lot of bars that I've been to don't...

it's definitely worth a shot though.. it's considered a "premium" beer

:lmao:

Guinness definitely isn't for binge drinking, just one or two with some food and you're okay. Love it, but only in moderation.

its not the most pleasant right enough.

guinness is a meal in itself, i normally prefer to drink lager but sometimes i get a craving to drink something a bit heavier.
as a couple of people have mentioned pilsener urquel is indeed a cracking beer as is proper budweiser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budweiser_Budvar_Brewery

I was having a go at making beer brats once, and decided that the most appropriate beer for the occasion would be PBR. Dumped a bunch of them in with the brats to cook, dumped a couple in myself and was pleasantly surprised. I've turned a lot of 'beer snobs' onto PBR since then.

I tried a can of Billy beer years ago and was surprised I liked it but then again I was so thirsty for a beer that day anything might have tasted good.

Saint Arnolds is a great Texas made craft beer.
Real Ale, Rahr and Southern Star are also good Texas beers.
