Why would we draft Taylor Mays?

I really hope Jerry realizes that Mays is not the type of safety we need, we need a play maker, not a big hitter. I would love to see us trade up and get Berry, although unlikely. I just hope someone doesn't steal Thomas off the board and we can snag him with the 27th pick.

Also, Dez Bryant has visited with the Cowboys...... what do you think about that? I honestly think if we can get him we should take him, he's too good to pass up. But then again Thomas is a great safety, and we really need one.

I don't see why it would be out of the ordinary if we traded up to get Berry, we're talented enough already that we can afford to take a gamble on a playmaker. Someone that can contribute instantly.

The safety position has been a perpetual problem for the Houston Texans since they entered the league. Still, for one reason or another they have steadfastly refused to devote a premium resource to address it once and for all. Perhaps that will change this offseason. Houston is very high on Bernard Pollard, who they picked up as a street free agent during the season, but they could still use someone to play alongside him. Texas usually does a good job of keeping their underclassmen in school but Earl Thomas had such an impressive redshirt sophomore campaign that he just couldn’t resist the lure of the pros. Thomas doesn’t have great size but he is very athletic and rangy with superb instincts and a real playmaking streak. If the Texans could team Thomas with Pollard they wouldn’t have to worry about the safety position for a long time. http://www.draftcountdown.com/images/mockimg/earlthomas.jpg With Steve Slaton falling victim to the dreaded sophomore slump and also coming off an injury the Texans will seriously consider a running back early on as well, most likely Ryan Mathews from Fresno State. A defensive tackle is also a possibility and Houston has never been shy about using first rounders there. Assuming they are both still available this pick will likely come down to either Thomas or Mathews, with the local "Lone Star State" product getting an ever so slight edge.

It is out of the ordinary because no team has jumped from 27 to the top 10. It costs too much in picks, and in the salary to pay a top 10 pick.

Hell atleast Mays knows how to tackle..Cant say the same about Hamlin, apparently the idea of wrapping a player up and driving him into the ground is a foreign idea for our arm tackling FS.

People keep saying that, but when you watch him in games niether shows up.

Non issue, he wont last to 27. I dont see him making it as a cover safety in the NFL.
