Former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah says he hasn't spoken to one team that has USC S Taylor Mays rated ahead of USF S Nate Allen.

NFLN's Mike Mayock has Allen as his No. 4 safety, behind Earl Thomas, Eric Berry, and Mays. A banger with the hip fluidity to man centerfield, Allen was unable to run at the Combine due to a pulled thigh muscle. Currently a projected second-round pick, he could vault into round one with a sub-4.5.

Surprising? No.

Mays should go ahead in putting on 15-20lbs, sacrificing some of that speed and become a LB. He would still be one of the most athletic LBs in the NFL with legit LB size.

Otherwise, Mays is likely to be a JAG. And I don't mean the guys down in Jacksonville.

Allen is a "banger?" What the hell does that mean?

Allen's not huge by any means, but he's not afraid to hit.

And when I watched him I saw a solid wrap up tackler as well. Takes good angles and makes plays on the ball.

If we can't get Thomas, I want this guy. I'll be paying close attention to USF's Pro Day.

If we can't get Iupati, I want us to trade out of round 1, get Nate Allen in the top of round 2, and attempt to get Vladimir Ducasse or Jared Veldheer in the middle/bottom of round 2.

After seeing what Mike Jenkins has become out of USF, I'm ready and willing to take a flyer on Nate Allen.
