If Tagliabue came to the podium and said "with the 11th pick, the Dallas Cowboys select, Quarterback Matt Jones, Univeristy of Arkansas."?!?!?!

I know this won't happen (I pray), but couldn't you see those turds signing him for sure if he's not drafted (and we'd probably be the only ones to draft him), what with both Jones' Arkansas connections. I just thought of it watching the Senior Bowl. Feel free to move this to the draft zone, I just wanted to depress you all and remind you of the sickness you felt when we took QC in the second

Would be a TERRIBLE draft pick at 11, heinous.

What scares me is he pulls yet another second round reach and does just that. I hope Parcells resigns that day.

What's scary is BP overruled on Rogers pick last year. Wonder who Lacewell and boys wanted??

If Lacewell and scouts had done ANYTHING last decade I might be concerned. Fact is Lacewell F'D THIS FRANCHISE WITH A DECADE OF BUSTS.

Parcells in 2 drafts has 3/4 near all pro's in JJ, Witten, Al...........Tnew in the wings

I definitely am concerned about them reaching for someone in the 1st round but I can't see a scenario where they do something THAT bad.

Right?

:banghead:Jones and Lacewell are out of the loop now. I wouldn't worry all that much anymore.

There is not a snowball's chance in hell this happens. No point in even thinking about something so absurd.

Whatever. Don't forget that he also wanted Julius Jones. Seems like he hit on that. A terrible draft would be the 2001 draft. Last years draft is yet to be rated. Al Johnson didn't play his first year due to injury. Rogers and Peterman may yet contribute next year.
Anyway, if the Cowboys picked Jones at 11, it would be "Matt Jones, WR (or TE), not QB". It's still a horrid pick nonetheless.

Better be the 11th pick of the 7th round.

It would almost be worth it if that were the consequence.

Well, we're getting 2 sixth round picks, so I wouldn't mind seeing them take a shot at Jones in the 5th or 6th round personally.

I find it totally believable that they would sign him as UDFA. Of course they won't draft him in the first day, that was just to get all of you guy's blood boiling. I hope they wouldn't draft him at all as he is a major project as a TE/WR. But, I could definitely see him at training camp, as a matter of fact, if available after the draft, I would almost guarantee it- Jones could not let a Arkansas boy not at least take up space at camp.

I'd send Jerrah the bill for the TV I threw out the window.

I remember being at a smoothie place in Daytona beach last year watching bits and pieces of the draft while on Vacation. I wanted to throw something at the tv when we traded down with Jackson still on the board. I got over it but I wouldnt get over this

A word of caution in this regard - Parcells selected Scott Frost, the option QB from Nebraska, with a 3rd round pick while with the Jets to attempt a conversion to safety - he has been a bust. Jones is a bigger and better athlete and probably already demonstrated more aptitude at another position than Frost ever has.
