Henson and Romo not goin to Europe make me think one of these 2 will be the starter in 05. Im pullin for Henson but I wont count out Romo. The way I think it could be is this. If Romo wins it I think he can be ok to good. I think he will start off better then Henson but I think Romo could peak out sooner. I think he has limited potential.

Henson I think will start off slower then Romo would but once Henson starts gettin things and the game slows down for him. Henson will be able to do things Romo just cant do.

Henson is more athletic then Romo. He is stronger to. Romo has a good arm but Henson has a cannon. I do think right now we would be better with Romo but 2 years from now we will be much better with Henson. I just hope Henson is the man and we finally have our QB.

Let's just hope one of them steps forward and plays well enough for us to be a contender. We can't afford another lost season at the QB position if this franchise is to move forward. I personally hope and expect Henson to win this job.

I'm a QB elitest. I can't help but pull for the guy that all the hype surrounds.

i would like to see henson. i have a bad feeling that henson or romo will not get a chance to start in the beginnig of the season in my opinion. now if it is a younger free agent qb then i am all for having him start but i have a feeling we will be suffering with vinny again. then maybe at some point in the season henson or romo will get a chance, maybe!

I would not be suprised at all if the 05 starter is neither.
I'll pull for the underdog - Romo!

I'm hoping Henson wins it. He's got the measurables.. great arm, height, mobility, etc...

That siad, if Romo beats him out I'll be perfectly fine with it.

Drew Bledsoe!!

i stated earlier that maybe a younger qb could start for us instead of romo or henson but i do not want bledsoe i know he is younger then vinny. i would rather start vinny until one of our two young guys are ready. vinny gets rid of the ball better even though he throws to many interceptions. bledsoe just takes to many sacks and he kills so many drives when he takes the stupid sack on second down. i watched a couple of bills games last year and i just did not understand why bledsoe would take so many sacks that would take the bills out of scoring chances. bledsoe would not last a half of season behind our oline.

What about trading a pick and a LB like Coakley for young JAX backup David Garrard? I don't know how sold JAX is on OLB Daryl Smith. As for Garrard, he doesn't have a future with JAX because of Leftwich, plus he has a head-start in terms of experience over Henson. He's pretty athletic, smart, and has a good arm. Maybe let Garrard and Henson fight it out for the QB-of-the-future moniker and keep VT around as the 3rd-stringer? Just an idea (meekly....runs away)....

Gotta go with Henson. Just becasue of the hype and the embarassment this team will take if he fails. But whoever is the guy to lead us to the SB then that's the guy I want. Ummm, I'n sure it's not the Vinster.

Not really a faillure if he doesn't pan out... we gave up a 3 for him...

Now... some may view it as such since he was so highly touted...

I think he will work out very nicely for us... many are hanging too much on him at this point...

He, himself, said that his signing "was a long road" to being a good NFL QB...

We as Cowboy fans like instant gratification... we all need to give the kid a few years... he certainly has the tools...

Unless your name is Jonathan Quinn. Then you have a bad pass pretty much every time you throw the ball. :)

Your choice is Henson/Aikman or Romo/Walsh. Thank God Jimmy came to his senses and shipped Steve to NO.

H/A - overall consensus #1 draft. Henson would have been according to Kiper. You don't get this without great all around potential and already being a polished product in college. Henson didn't play much in college and became recognized as this fast. He hasn't come close to peaking yet. Size, strength, arm strength - cannon, poise.

Romo/Walsh - Body lacks size, strength. weak arms. Walsh was a major reach to take him in the 1st round in the supplemental draft. (prelude to QC reach later) Romo- UnDrafted FA. He looked like one in the preseason games last year. He looked lost in the first preseason game. Oakland he was OK.

Romo would not come out and play better faster than Henson... nor ever.

I don't care which one of the two starts.

I just hope Parcells plays the BETTER player, whoever it may be.

I certainly think Henson has a MUCH greater chance at being the future than Romo.

What exactly are you referring to?

I am not sure what Juke might be refering to, but Romo seems to have real "Loose" Mouth.

The guy can't keep anyting secret seems like. Lastly, although I can't really prove this, I think he didn't want to go to NFL Europe even if Cowboys wanted him to go. I am basing this on, his comments before last game of season, where he apparently told reporters he was asked about NFLEurope.

But we know he is not going, not sure if COwboys changed their mind or it was reluctance of Romo, since he said he wasn't sure it was right choice since he wanted to compete for the job.

Who are you pullin for to start Henson or Romo in 05
wolverine is on my "ignore user" list, so i can't read the first post. that said, WHO CARES who wins the position... i just want one guy to be "the guy", something we haven't seen here since around '98 behind center to be honest :)

I don't care who wins, I'm just looking forward to the competition. With Vinny being the backup, they should both get plenty of reps in camps and pre-season.

It kinda reminds me of the Morton-Staubach competition in that Morton was taller and maybe the best passer in the league at the time while the smaller Staubach had the game intangeables and leadership enough to win. If Romo doesn't have the intangeables, he won't be around long; if he does, it could get interesting.

The one that stuck out the most was when Henson was "promoted" to number two and Romo said that he expected it because of the money invested in Henson...not cool...

When I have the time, I'll go dig around for some of the other stuff...but there were a few more comments that I just didn't care for.

At the same time, I think Henson has said ALL the right things.

In the long run, hardly matters because the guy who can put points on the board is going to be the starter, regardless of what he says...but I found the above comment by Romo pretty surprising....especially given how quickly Hutch was sent to the doghouse for his "what's my role" question...

if i had a choice between an effective henson or romo - i'd choose henson. he's bigger and has the stronger arm. i could see romo being effective - but in a scrappy "ugly win" kinda way. i can see henson leading a beautifully orchestrated attack featuring pin-point passing and perfectly-arcing deep balls.
don't get me wrong. i'll happily take the ugly wins. just a li'l "projecting" on this end.
may the better QB win.

I am pulling for both of them, and hope one emerges.
It does not matter to me which one Romo or Henson.

Do not get me wrong because I do have high hopes for Henson, but I think many around here have to high expectations right now.

I said it from the day we got him that it could take Henson 2 or 3 years to be ready, if ever, and I have seen nothing yet to change my stance on that comment.

I also do not think that is a bad thing, but is just fair to him. Many think the right thing is to just throw him in there, but I am not one that follows that line of thinking. He still has to be to a certain level to throw him in, otherwise the kid has no chance.

If Henson is ready by 2005 I will be pleasantly suprised, we will see.

I also have some hopes for Romo, and think he may have some intangibles in a Delhomme kind of way. If Romo wins the job than I am all for it.

I just want the best QB to play.

In truth I am pulling for whoever can actually do the best job. I have a soft spot for Romo because he is such an underdog. I think he is a way better QB than most give him credit for and could make someone a very good starter, maybe us.

However, I did like what I saw from Henson in the (way too limited) game action that he got this year. He has really improved his mechanics since training camp and he has a nice fluid throwing motion. He is by all reports a very smart player and I would be happy to see him in as starter also.

Best case scenerio would be to have one of them as the starter and the other as the backup who could step in and play with no drop-off in performance, and have them for as long as possible before the backup's rep gets them a big time contract from someone else.
