Does anyone use any cheap music downloading site such as LegalSounds.com ?
I was wondering if it is safe etc. It is .09 a song. Great deal, if you put in 39$ you can get 50 free songs as well.
I wont use limewire, that would just own my computer with viruses.

You can get invites by going to their IRC channel and answering a quiz that the staff give you on their rules.
It's worth it though, big time. You won't find a better music torrent site.

limewire = illegal downloads, right?
I don't know why people think it's OK to steal music. It only costs $1 per song to download legally. In addition to being morally wrong... I think most people wouldn't risk arrest to steal a $1 candy bar from a store, so why put yourself at risk over a song? If you like it, buy it. The artists deserve to get paid for their work.

It's not the artist I hate. It's the business side of the music industry. They should be exterminated.
btw, Limewire isn't illegal. Though you *CAN* download illegal things using it.

Who gave you the right to decide which businesses are deserving of being exterminated? You wouldn't walk into Wal-Mart and grab a $10 CD and walk out without paying would you? It's the same thing if you get it off a music site.

Hey, you know that admitting to a crime on a forum can get you in trouble, right? You just confessed to stealing 500 songs. Just because you don't agree with a law does not make it optional for you.
Here's what the penalties for that are:
Do The Crime, Do The Time
If you do not have legal permission, and you go ahead and copy or distribute copyrighted music anyway, you can be prosecuted in criminal court and/or sued for damages in civil court.
Criminal penalties for first-time offenders can be as high as five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
Civil penalties can run into many thousands of dollars in damages and legal fees. The minimum penalty is $750 per song. The "No Electronic Theft Law" (NET Act) is similar on copyright violations that involve digital recordings:
Criminal penalties can run up to 5 years in prison and/or $250,000 in fines, even if you didn’t do it for monetary or financial or commercial gain.
If you did expect something in return, even if it just involves swapping your files for someone else’s, as in MP3 trading, you can be sentenced to as much as 5 years in prison.
Regardless of whether you expected to profit, you’re still liable in civil court for damages and lost profits of the copyright holder.
Or the copyright holders can sue you for up to $150,000 in statutory damages for each of their copyrighted works that you illegally copy or distribute. If you make digital copies of copyrighted music on your computer available to anyone through the Internet without the permission of the copyright holder, you’re stealing. And if you allow a P2P file-sharing network to use part of your computer’s hard drive to store copyrighted recordings that anyone can access and download, you’re on the wrong side of the law.

So, even if you don't think stealing is morally and socially wrong... And even if you think that Exodus 20:15 is a fairy tale... what you are doing will land you big fines & jail time. Fact.

You know. I'm a charitable person. I do my best to help people when I can, but I have absolutely zero tolerance for self-centered greedy *******s who try to bully people and/or dictate what someone else can and can't do.
I hate the RIAA with the same passion I hate Steve Jobs and for the EXACT same reason.
The RIAA was suing innocent people and demanding money even AFTER they figured out they were wrong in the case. The only time they ever backed off is if they knew that were about to get their ***** handed to them.
If a man committed a crime, then by all means go after him. Although, suing for $80,000 a track is ignorant. There is absolutely no way in hell a single track on a mans PC did $80,000 in damages.
Those guys need to be met in a back alley.

Yeah the over inflated numbers per song in these lawsuits is crazy...but then again the person could have just avoided the whole thing if he would not have illegal downloaded the stuff in the first place.
Even if they just rendered a lawsuit and judgement against the guy for $0.99 a song the guy would still have to pay other court costs and so on for doing something that was illegal.
Now I will not be a hypocrite and say I have never done it...but let's not act like it is ok to do it just because you don't like the business.

I agree. Personally, I would give a judgement of 100x the song price for each song to the plaintiff, a flat (government) fine of $5,000, and 1,000 hours of community service.
Now, if you stole 1,000 songs, you would owe $105,000 and I would think that was completely fair, but $80k per song is so freaking stupid. Might as well sentence a man to death for a speeding ticket.

This seems so pointless, arguing about how harsh the penalty is. Instead of getting caught then complaining about the huge fine, why not pay the 99 cents for a song and avoid the whole fiasco all together? In fact, if you buy the whole CD, most of the times it is less that that per song.

Next speeding ticket you get should be $8 billion dollars and then maybe you'll get the picture. :)

The RIAA and the people they represent are much bigger crooks and parasites than any of the pirates could ever be. They have a long history of enshrining antiquated practices that make them a pretty penny, despite having no present relevance. Part of the way they get and allocate royalties is based on a model of jukeboxe use in the 1910s. Bands frquently get charged a breakage fee on their CDs that's based on the failure percentages of shellac 78 records. The industry was indicted on a massive charge of price fixing of CDs, something that went on for decades. Radio payola exists to this day. They are leeches with a strong lobby.
If micro-transactions could be used easily, paying a dime to a band to download their song would give them more money than most label releases garner per song.
There's a reason so many bands are staying independant and doing as much as they can themselves.
For the OP's question though, I ran across this site recently, and it has free downloads of music from live shows. May not have anything that you are interested in, but if there is something, you can just go get it, free and clear.

The death penalty hasn't stopped people in Texas from committing crimes that are punishable by death.
Anyhow, the punishment is supposed to fit the crime. This does not.

Haven't paid money for songs in... forever. Unless someone comes out with a CD i really like, then I buy it. Few CD's have enough songs I like.
Why pay for individual songs on the internet, when it's perfectly ok to record them on a audio cassette? I've been doing that since I was 8 and no one ever complained. Same ****.
Musicians make money off of their tours and other ****, they make very very little off of CD sales. If you wanna support them, go to their concerts.
Record companies are slowly fading away into nothingness, which is a good thing. They are a thing of the past, and this "Don't DL music it's Illegal" thing is going to lose horribly, and go away.
Comparing it to walking into a store and stealing a CD is laughable at best.
Please, Download music for free off the internet. It will help kill the Record companies and give musicians more freedom to create music they really want to.
Tons of musicians are already on board, it's better for them. Linkin Park has been supporting free music DL's for a long time now, there are many other popular bands who support it as well.
Support the death of the record companies, support musicians. Download music for free~
