Most overrated place on earth. Is the fascination that it's uber-cheap? I'd rather pay $10 for a good burger than $2 for a bad one.

I live right down the street from Firewheel.

May have to check it out whenever I feel like having a stomach ache for the next few days after eating their food.

Whataburger is my favorite of the fast food places. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars for a fancy burger if it is good. There is a place in Austin called Mighty Fine Burgers. I have only been a couple of times, but it is pretty good. I have never had the privilege of an In-and-Out. I like Steak-N-Shake.

In and Out is good, but yeah, it's OVERRATED. It's not like you have an intense orgasm eating their cheeseburger. Their claim to fame is the fact that none of there food has been frozen and it's all FRESH.

i think its that it is 'exclusive' and cali people like to brag about it, but they do swear by the 'secret sauce' which is modified 1000 island sauce, also the 'secret menu'(that everybody knows about).

im a plain and dry guy myself so its nothing special for me but i posted it cause i know some people have a chubb for this place

There is a local chain here in Albuquerque called Lota-Burger that most like more then What-A-Burger. They are OK but the best Burger's I have ever had are right here in New Mexico. Out on N14, headed towards Ceder Crest, is a little hamburger stand called Burger Boy. They server all sorts of different hamburgers. You can get a Bison Burger made from real Buffalo meat or you can get a Blue Cheese Worcesteshire Burger with Blue Cheese cooked inside the burger or you can get a Smoke Bacon Burger with Smoked Pepper Bacon or Hickory Bacon strips (not fat) that go about an 8th inch thick on your Burger but if you want my personal opinoin, the Green Chile Cheesburgers are as good as I've ever had. Half Pound of top ground, grounded there at the stand, with two pieces of American or whatever you want, grilled onions and fresh Hatch Green Chile chopped and seasoned with Garlic.

Really is as good as I've ever had. If you ever have the chance, you should stop and check it out. You'd be doing yourself a favor.

I have an In N Out one block from where I live. I rarely RARELY eat fast food but if I do decide to pick up some, it's from In n Out.

It's not really cheap at all, I think its $6.50 for a burger, fries and soda. Somewhere around there.

The fries are the best I've ever had, as the potatoes are freshly cut, right in front of your eyes, and the burgers are very juicy and tasty.

I like the place.

Tough crowd. As far as fast food burgers go, it's up there with Whataburger IMO. No Whataburgers in California, so I would go with In N Out there. No In N Outs in Texas, so I go with Whataburger here.

If The Habit moves to Texas though, I'll do cartwheels to wherever it is.

I like Carl's Jr., Whataburger, and Sonic for fast food hamburgers. In N Out is okay, but I don't get the fascination with it.

I cant STAND Blakes for burgers, although the breakfast burritos rock. Not to mention most of the blakes are trashy and in trashy parts of town. ie the one on Mateo off Gibson, the one on Central between Wyoming and Eubank or the one off 4th and Candelaria. I LOVE eatting with homeless people sitting a table down from me. That said i cant believe you didnt mention Griffs or Bob's burgers. I seriously LOVE griffs, bob's I can do without. Eventually I'll try Benny's since I live in los Lunas

My wife took the kids to INO in AZ when she went to Tempe to see her dad. All she could say was over rated and total crap.

Sounds good, my New Mexico brother. There's a hole-in-the-wall place here called Burger Nook and the green-chile burgers there are the best I've ever had. It's run by two sisters and they make each burger carefully and slowly. You have to call ahead and order, then pick it up about 30 minutes later. It's really not a fast food place.

Every time the burger debate comes up, the California/Arizona group touts In-n-Out, and the Texans all chime in about Whataburger. Both are overrated, but at least In-n-Out burgers are cheap and not overpriced like Whataburger.

Anyway, the truth (and the best) lies somewhere in between California/Arizona and Texas.

In-and-Out is probably like Wienerschnitzel. I love their hotdogs, but quality they are not. :laugh2:

I used to eat the chili cheese dogs when I lived in California. Then they opened a couple up in Dallas / Fort Worth and I was damn happy. Then they closed them, but I guess since I don't live there anymore it didn't matter.

They could never open one of those near where I live. It took Subway like 5 years to get approved to open and that damn near didn't happen. No way a joint like that could open.

WhatABurger was ok when I was in texas.

Never had an In and Out burger.

However in my neck of the woods it is pretty much the stand McDonald, Rallys, Hardees, Wendys and Burger King...of those I prefer Burger King.

If it is a true fast food burger joint...I imagine that some might be more enjoyable to an individuals taste but at the end of the day there is only so many ways you can dress up a hamburger.

I don't need a lot and don't get the whole Idea of a trying to turn a hamburger into a steak with a salad on top of it, by that I mean getting to crazy with the ideas of so many different vegetables or making the hamburger too thick and so on.

Give me a hamber with the standard trimmings, I will leave the onions off, and make sure the thing is not dried out shoe leather and I will be fine. If it is dripping down my hands while I am eating it than that means its got flavor. But again I don't need anything too fancy. If that is the case than i would just rather go to a steak house and get a steak and sides.

I had a similar situation at the KB at Ft Polk.

Would always get extra picks on my Dbl Whopper and each time I would look and there would be at most one more pickle than normal.

So I asked one of the people working there if I have to ask for extra extra extra extra extra pickles if I wanted at least five more pickles on it and she looked amused and said, might help.

So I would do that for some time and you could actually see it on the order ticket...most times than not I would get just one more at most.

Well the night before I was to leave for Ft Polk forever, I went into the BK and made the order and said extra pickle five times and made sure it was on the order slip.

pick up my order, open it right there at the counter and low and behold...no extra pickles.

So I asked the girl...Just a minutes ago I asked for five extra pickles...you remember right. She replied yes. I said do you see the word extra printed out five times on this order slip...she said yes.

I said does the same thing that prints out on the order slip show up on the order screen for the cooks in the back....she said yes.

So then I show her my burger and ask if she sees five extra pickles on it and she says no she even says it looks like it might be a pickle short of a regular order.

So I said...no offense to you miss as you have been extremely helpful and did everything correctly on your end, so what happens next is the problem of the people in the back and make sure you have them clean it up and here take $5.00 for your help and I hand her a $5.00 bill.

She looks at me kind of funny and I say, you might want to stand to the side a bit. She moves.

So I say in a loud voice. I ordered extra pickles, even showed on the order slip extra pickles five times and yet I only get two pickles on my Whopper. Have it your way does not seem to work at this Burger King so I am sending my order back.

To which I picked up the whopper, removed the top bun and slung the whopper to where the sheet metal was on the other side of the french frier and it hit that thing with a loud plop and promptly slid down the metal sheet and onto the floor.

Now I was expecting someone either behind the counter or other customers to start yelling.

To my surprise they started clapping and the girl behind the counter started laughing and yelled back to some young kid to come clean up the mess HE made.

She said the kid was a little snot that never filled out the orders correctly and if you said anything to him about it he gave attitude. Well...he did not give attitude as he was cleaning up as I was giving him one of those death stares.:laugh1:

Good story.

I've had very bad service at Burger King. We very rarely go there anymore.

The one where I live rarely screws up an order and I think that is the only time I ever did something like that. I don't mind if an order gets screwed up as accidents do happen. But when it happens all the time that gets a little old. However on the base that was about the only place open at that time so you were stuck going there or driving off base somewhere.

Now the worse places around my neck of the woods is either Dairy Queen or KFC.

I can understand dairy queen being slow making a hamburger as they make them to order instead of having them made and waiting. But when it takes five days to make a freaking milkshake that gets old so I just don't go through that place.

KFC where I live is always out of something when you go through or they keep screwing up your order while you are ordering. I refused to go through that drive through for a few years because they would irritate me so much but the wife likes it so once in a blue moon I will go through for her.

plain and dry, thats how i ask for my burger, doesn't matter where it always gets made with everything, sometimes they will even put mayo on the burger that doesn't even come with it, i think just to irk me. i have never been a fast food cook but i have been a line cook at sit down places and i know its not that dang hard to make a special order, especially a plain one where you don't have to put anything extra or different on it. Mc D is the worst but i have this problem where ever i go.

I have a KFC by my office and since I've been on my diet, I go there and I order 1 Grilled Chicken breast. A few weeks ago, I went through the drive thru and ordered my Chicken breast and diet soda. I pull to the window and I give the girl my credit card. She runs it and gives me the receipt and I pull to the next window to get my food.

So, then some guy with a mouth full of gold leans out and tells me they are out of grilled chicken. I said it's a chicken place, how can you be out of chicken? He said we aren't out of chicken, just grilled. So then he says would I like to replace the grilled with the fried chicken and told him I was on a diet and I was cutting back on my sodium and no I didn't want the fried chicken.

Then this mental giant asks the next logical question.

"Let me make up for this problem. I will give you two pieces of Fried chicken."

I'm like, I didn't want the first one, what makes you think I want two?

So I said, never mind, just credit my card back and I'll go somewhere else.

He did and then it took about 6 days before the credit showed back up on my card.

You would think that if they are out of something they would have told me when I ordered it.

KFC is the worst. It is a joke around here so much that sometime I drive up and order something just to see if they are out. They have been out of fried chicken (how can a fried chicken place be out of fried chicken I asked them) they have been out of chicken pot pies, grilled chicken, chicken tenders, and you are lucky if they happen to get your order right. I have called corporate at least 10 times for the local KFC.

We have a couple of five guys and fries here. They are pretty good and probably my favorite locally but none can compare to a place in Lake Charles, La, (about 1.5 hour south of Fort Polk) called Mary Anns Cafe. My wife had one there 20 years ago and still swears it is the best she has ever had. IF they ever close that place down I will never go to Louisiana again.

As far as fast service I guess a No 2 Sonic Burger is my choice.

I was going to try and eat healthy tonight, but all this talk has got me craving a burger. Maybe I should go try Carl's Jr. They opened up a location around here about 6 months or so ago.

At least your KFC sells the grilled chicken. Our local franchiser won't shell out the money for the equipment. :laugh2:

My KFC story. I may have shared this before but I can't remember.

My boss and I delivered a big copy machine to a business and he asked me if I minded stopping at KFC so he could pick up the food for his Boy Scout dinner. I said I didn't mind at all.

So he orders 2 buckets of chicken, one regular, one extra crsipy. 2 dozens biscuits, several large things of mashed potatoes and gravy, several large things of cole slaw.

Girl rings it up and says, "Is that for here or to go?"

I couldn't believe my ears. I said, "you have got to be kidding."

She said, "why?"

I asked, "do you really think the 2 of us could eat that much food?"

She said, "so you're saying it's to go?"

To this day I hope she never had children.

HA! You should have told her it was for here and she had to wait until you finished before she could go home.

Whataburger is the greatness. Mooyah is tasty too. Smashburger ain't too shabby either.

Those are the chains I prefer in this area. There are some places that are more local like Snuffers, Twisted Root, etc that are probably better, but I'll almost always go to the place that's more convenient. For me, it's hard to screw up a burger and once you achieve "good" status, the various levels of "good" aren't that far apart.

If you can find a Five Guys around you, you HAVE to try them. Expensive? Yes. But worth every penny. And the fries are crazy good as well.

http://www.fiveguys.com/home.aspx

If you try it, you will put a picture of me on your wall at home and bow to it each day!

The cajun is correctamundo on this one.

I've never tasted a better fast food chain burger than Five Guys.

I get mad too when they mess up my order (anywhere). Mainly because I order like this

" Let me get a number 1 with ...just....cheese.....ketchup.....and.....mustard."

I really don't know how you can mess that up.

*oh. And it's all about Burger Station. Any south Irvingites know the deal!

That's the beauty of Mooyah Burger.....you fill in your order on one of their order cards and you get it just the way you want it.

Do you also say, when she turns her back on you to complete your order. "I want to cut you up into little pieces and play with your blood"?

Close. It's more like " I want to cut you into pieces and lick your belly button...from the INSIDE.".

Kidding.

I've eaten at Mooyah. I hear it's the same company as In-N-Out. I liked their burgers quite a bit.

Why am I even on this thread? I am on a 21-day cleanse right now and can only consume fruits and vegetables.
