Well, unless something happens between now and 12:01 AM Friday morning, Ronnie Lee Gardner will be executed here in Utah by firing squad.
He ate his last meal today. Steak, lobster tail, ice-cream, pie, and a 7UP. He will "fast" for the next 48 hours as that is what he chose to do.
He will now pay the ultimate price. His life...

It's a shame this type of thing doesn't happen more often. And quicker.
Executions, that is.

I agree. The 20 year appeals process is just stupid.

X2. We waste too much money keeping people on death row. Once a person gets a death sentence, they should only be allowed ONE appeal.
*on a side note, I have a morbid fascination with prison. I took a Sociology class that was only about prison. The prison system in our country is set up for inmates to fail. The high rates of recidivism creates job security in the prison system. It's all about money. There is no rehabilitation going on, unless the inmates rehabilitates themselves.

I believe society as a whole has decided that it is better for a guilty man to go free then an innocent man be executed.
With the number of people being exonerated based on DNA evidence becoming more and more common, (Dallas County has more DNA exonerations then the state of California and Florida combined), I have no problem with the drawn out process to make sure we get it right.

Man, speaking of the DNA Devil, I didn't realize they had a Reality TV show called "Dallas DNA" on the Discovery Channel that profiles those exonerated by DNA evidence in Dallas.

Pretty sad that you have so many exonerations that you can make a TV show :laugh2: .

You'd be surprised to find out what's still in style. In some places in Georgia it's still illegal to commit ******.

Yeah, he could still be eating.
I wonder if the execution would be postponed until he could "finish" his endless shrimp feast. I think I could extend that out a few years if I took really small bites. :D

No veggies? What an idiot!:) He will be constipated for sure.
Throw in a little heartburn, too. That is, a speedy bullet burning through his ice-cold heart.:laugh1:
Too bad waterboarding prisoners is illegal.:bang2:

I concur. The process is warranted and just.
