A hurricane couldn't "pick up" oil. Reports I've read actually stated that a hurricane would do it some good because it would break the oil slicks up into smaller chunks.

I don't even know if that would be an issue.

The issue that might bring problems with the hurricanes is if they somehow damage the relief wells being put in place right now. It could also help push the oil infected, maybe saturated is a better word, water further inland and destroying more wetland areas which in turn can hurt some areas down the road in future hurricanes as some of the wetlands are natural barriers (even if it is just to slow down and reduce the power) of hurricanes.

The United States is a net food importer these days. We don't supply food to the world, the world supplies food to us.

And yes, oil does evaporate, but it takes a long time.
