For now it sounds like Denver's Elvis Dumervil will miss at least four months, but it could well be the season. Crushing blow for Broncos.

The Broncos seem like a team what will be in big trouble this year.
That division is awful.
San Diego should win that division if they go 7-9.

No kidding. As for SD they are the elite team in that division and did go 13-3 last season and there is no reason to think they will not run away with that division this year.

The Broncos will be bad this year.
I think Elvis got signed a big contract recently too.

Yes he did and remember that noise from Jeff Ireland that Elvis put up such big college numbers because Montavious Stanley drew all the attention.

Yeah, so obviously Ireland was VERY wrong on Dumervil since he was off-the-charts good as a pro last year.
Wow, the injury does let us see the team management side of these huge contracts. They just gave him a ton of guaranteed money and he will miss 4 mos to the entire year just a few days after cashing in.

He was not off-the-charts good last year. He was very good, but hardly off-the-charts. I guess we could say he had an off-the-charts first half of the season, but he practically disappeared at the end of the year. So did the rest of the Broncos defense. They gave up 15.5 points per game the first 8 games and 25 points per game the last 8 games. I didn't think he would live up to this contract he just signed. Good player, but not great. Unfortunately he is now injured.

Okay...I think you're splitting hairs here if you're say that leading the league in sacks was not "off-the-charts" good it was just "very good". That's fine.
In any case, my two points were:
1) That Denver just ate a lot of money if he misses the season and
2) Ireland missed on his assessment of Dumervil.

You nailed it. McDaniels looked like Mr Inspiration during the first half of the season, but wound up looking like a snake-oil salesman at the end. Maybe Tim Tebow can pass rush.:p:

I wasn't just looking at sack totals. Dummervil only had 49 total tackles(solo+assists) and 4 forced fumbles.
DeMarcus Ware had an off year due to a couple of injuries and still managed 45 solo tackles(57 total) and 5 forced fumbles. When Ware led the league in sacks in 2008 he had 84 total tackles and 6 forced fumbles.
That is why I don't think it is off-the-charts good. Plus he wasn't consistent. He was a non-entity the last half of the season. When Ware led the league in sacks in 2008 he was getting constant pressure every game and only had 2 games in which he did not get a sack. Elvis had 7 games in which he failed to record a sack. No sacks in 4 of the final 8 games and no sacks in 3 of the final 4 games.
I agree with your two points. Denver is out a lot of money. I thought they over paid even if he did not get injured. And Ireland was wrong.

Tebow can sub for him and probably get more sacks anyway.

The Raiders are my sleeper team in that division, believe it or not.

I'll buy what you're selling. I predict this year will see one of the perennially downtroddens--Oakland or Detriot--make some noise.
That sucks.
That would be like us losing Ware for the season--before the firs preseason.

This sort of puts the Dez injury in perspective. It could be a lot worse.

I think the Raiders could finish 7-9 or 8-8 in that division, which would be impressive for them.
