It is important in terms of enjoyment. I have loved the game of football since I was a little kid and that love of the game has never changed.

Its like family to me. You love it when they are around in the beginning(would watch any game once the season starts), get tired of them usually in the middle(non cowboys games get boring in the middle), and then miss them when they are not around(end of season. long summer).

I love it because I enjoy it so much and there are so many complexities and different ways to do things, combined with trying to project how things will do...all great, fun stuff. It's the ultimate team sport and probably the biggest strategy sport in the world. That's why I get angry when somebody like Belichick cheats. He not only cheated fans like myself, but he attempted to circumvent the strategy of the game. It's funny, I was reading Pat Kirwan's book (great book) and it's easy to see how much the Patriots were GREATLY helped by their cheating. Kirwan never mentions the Patriots and SpyGate, but one can easily draw the conclusion of the TREMENDOUS advantage the Patriots have.

And I'm not even a fan of an opposing AFC East or AFC team. But I enjoy the NFL so much that it really ticks me off that somebody would try to ruin the game like the Patriots and Belichick did.

I'd say I'm an NFL loyalist and one that supports the league and praises it's great attributes, but I'm not a blind loyalist and supporter. Hopefully my concerns about Goodell are overstated and I keep loving the NFL for a very long time.

I love the Cowboys and NFL but if the league died, I would miss it but wouldn't have an effect on my life.

For me probably Family, job, friends, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Cowboys, NFL

I could say country is more important to me...but I don't spend 5 hours of my week giving/thinking about/writing about/arguing about my country.

I could say God is more important to me...but I don't believe

I could say family is more important to me...but I don't have one.

So the Cowboys/NFL/Sports probably gets into the top five easily enough, below my friends, my business, and several creative hobbies.

When I was younger, the Boyz seemed like the most important thing in the world to me. I would literally cry after the Boyz lost a game.

However, as I became older, I realized that it is just a game. As I have seen family members pass on and as I have lost family pets one by one, I have come to realize that this is just entertainment and not life or death.

There are many things in life more important than the outcome of a football game. So the NFL is just entertainment for me, just like going to the movies.

Keep it in perspective guys, alway remember to keep it in perspective.

Some people live and breath the NFL... How important is the NFL to you? It's important enough for me to keep spending hundreds of dollars on NFL Sunday Ticket each season for the past 16 years. But, to be totally honest, it's a guarantee so that I never have to miss a Cowboys game ever, so it's all good. :p:

Its up there. I could live with out it, and still find plenty of ways to be happy on Sundays in the fall, but it's important and I'd rather not have to do without it.

Its pretty up there as far as entertainment is concerned, I think definitly top 3. However, in the broader context of life it gets overshadowed by more important things.

In junior high, I refused to go out for band because they practiced on Monday nights and I'd miss MNF games. I made my sister change the time of her first wedding because it conflicted with a Giants-Cowboys game. I live in northeast Missouri and have traveled to 6 or 7 games a year for many years both in Dallas and on the road. I was a season ticket holder for the last two years of Texas Stadium. I have left my family and friends alone on Thanksgivings and Christmas to go to games. I spend hours every day, even in the offseason, on Cowboys related web sites. It's like a sickness, or a severe drug addiction....

all in all I love it and wouldn't change a thing.

The NFL wouldnt even crack my top 10. I only like the Cowboys, that's it. If they win I'm happier if they lose I'm devastated for 24 hours. But the NFL in general I could careless.

Not a Canucks fan? For me it's food, family, food, drumming, food, music, Dallas Cowboys football, food..... well you get the drift. :D

I really don't get all excited about other sports, but I do follow the Boys with a passion.

I love the NFL. I would be heartbroken if it somehow was gone for good. But then I'd eventually get over it and look back with some very fond memories.

I will be pissed if their is a lockout next season.

This begs the question, are the Cowboys ahead of family simply because you don't have one, or do you not have one because you place the Cowboys above family.

If you can afford to take off an entire month and play in Mexico you can afford some kind of satellite hookup.

The issue isn't money or taking time of the issue was me not being 100% sure something like that would even be available there. I use NFL.com game pass to watch games but i wasn't sure if they would block a Mexican IP or not since this service is not available in the US and a lot of countries around the US.
I could most likely watch every game there to, but not being 100% sure meant i wasn't gonna risk it cause i'm a football junkie

To put it in perspective...

I've been a Cowboys fan for 36 of my 41 years. I have always loved watching the team play, but it's gotten more important to me since my accident. I can't play sports anymore (I was a three-sport athlete), but I can still watch, and I watch a lot. Dallas Cowboys. LA Lakers. Anything UVA.

I don't generally watch the NBA if LA isn't playing, but I get League Pass and catch most of the Lakers' games (until the regular season gets boring, and it always does). I'm a Virginia alumn and huge fan of all things UVA. I have season tix for Virginia football and hoops and I attend some baseball games. I watch a ton of ACC football and basketball, and a lot of the college revenue sports, in general.

My real passion, however, is the Dallas Cowboys. I get really bummed when the season is over, but I tide myself over by recording/archiving/rewatching games and following the team closely year round. Love the combine, the draft, all the scraps from free agency and OTA's. I live here during the offseason, catching all the info and other chatter that the superb Zone posters provide. I start getting stoked when July rolls around. I catch all the practice chats, press conferences, interviews, radio shows, etc, once training camp starts. I watch, record and rewwatch preseason games (I pay the NFL for the priviledge of watching the games streamed live). Preseason is fun for me. I love watching the young and new players develop, seeing them perform, diseecting the roster and looking on as the future of my team takes shape. I'm a Sunday Ticket subscriber of 14 years and never miss a game. When the team loses I'm in a foul mood for a week. I avoid all sports TV and radio, as well as these boards (more often than not) and get really bored and ill-tempered. My girlfriend roots hard for the Dallas Cowboys. :D

But I'm also an NFL fan. Sundays during football seaason are kind of my holy time. Everyone who knows me knows that football Sundays are off limits. I begin in the morning by watching the crap on ESPN and NFLN and then flip over to FOX at noon. I usually watch three games: 1, 4 and 8, catching one highlight show or the other between the afteernoon and night games. I always watch the Cowboys, of course, and usually the Skins or the other NFCE teams. If there's no NFCE games, I default to whichever game looks most interesting, flicking around as scores change and rooting for whatever's best for the Cowboys.

So, to answer the question...

The Cowboys and the NFL are a huge part of my life. During the season, my mood hangs ridiculously on the fortunes of the Dallas Cowboys. But the Cowboys aren't nearly everything. I'd probably get a little depressed if the League suddenly collapsed, but wouldn't any fan? I'd probably see a lot more movies and plan a lot more stuff for the fall and winter months. And my girlfriend would be a lot happier, and if she's happy it's all good!

My girl, my family and my dog.
Health.
America.
Cowboys.
UVA sports.
The Lakers.

That's prolly the order for me.
