Hey,
My Gmail recently updated and I lost those little boxes that allow me to selectively check (All, none, read, unread) emails. I use the unread extensively b/c I get a lot of junk email so I can just quickly delete them, and it would be a drag to go through and click each of them. Anyway I can get it back?? Thanks much.

It's not just under the Archive/Report Spam/Delete/Move To/Labels/More Actions bar?

At the very bottom of the page under your Quota line, there's a line that reads:
Gmail view: standard | turn off chat | turn off buzz | older version (http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1) | basic HTML (http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html&zy=a) Learn more (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=15049)
Try the "older version" link.
Just out of curiosity, what browser/version number are you using?

Mine has a little box icon on the left where if you click it, it has a drop down block that gives you all of those options.

yeah, I just found that. I like the older version better where it's just laid out.
Thanks.
I use chrome, I have no idea what number.

Lame. I just reverted it back so I could have that feature, and now I've lost my calendar and chat list. The setting doesn't allow me to add them :(

Alternate method using keyboard shortcuts:
* then u to select unread. Then # to delete.

In the new design there is a checkbox to the left of the "archive" button. If you click the arrow next to the box a drop-down menu pops up where you can click unread. It's still there, just have to do some lookin, and get used to the newness.

yeah, I saw that. I don't know why they didn't keep it the same. There's a long empty strip there now. Maybe people didn't like it b/c they might have accidently clicked there instead but I found it incredibly convenient.
I'll see if I can get use to the hotkeys

Do you have to turn it on somewhere?

They're still there in the upper left corner of your menubar. They just put them in a dropdown for you.
