For Brett Favre (http://www.nfl.com/players/brettfavre/profile?id=FAV540222), it may not be about the money. But he's sure going to make a ton of it.

Favre's reworked contract with the Minnesota Vikings (http://www.nfl.com/teams/minnesotavikings/profile?team=MIN) has yet to become official in the NFL or NFLPA contract system, but league sources expect it to occur soon.

Sources report that Favre will earn up to $3 million in a new signing bonus. He will earn another $4 million in new incentives based largely on the Vikings' postseason performance this season.

With that in mind -- and given the structure of his existing contract -- Favre could cap his final NFL campaign by pocketing up to $28 million. Not bad.

I would like to see his career end within the first four games of the season.

I personally believe he has earned that type of ending with the way he has been acting.

Not to mention I can't stand Brad Childress. Not sure how he still has a HC job. (or ever got one in the first place) That is absolutely stupid.

I have always found the best way to negotiate is to act like you could go either way in whatever you are negotiating about.

Farve in my mind has had this down for the last 4 or 5 years, as a fan I get sick of his antics, but I certainly understand them.

With that kind of money involved...it would be hard not to come back. Even if he does not make the incentives, even if he gets hurt on the first play and never plays another down....That is still a great deal of money to walk away with.

I have a bigger problem with Kyle Orton making 12 million over the next two years. I dont have a problem with Favre getting what may be one last big pay day even as annoying as he is. Favre has put alot of money in NFL owners and league pockets over the years.

If Brett is successful this year, does this confirm the idea that veterans only need three weeks to be ready for the start of the regular season?

When he isn't playing us, I really enjoy watching Favre. Same with Peyton Manning.

:hammer: Totally agree. Favre has deserved the money for his play but his childish behavior is pretty pathetic.

If Minn is willing to payout that kind of cash that is on them. Unlike many I don't hate Favre but given the report I saw from Dr. Andrews on Brett ankle I highly doubt he will make it through the entire season.

I have said it and I will say it again, I dont care for bret favre, period. I used to respect him as a QB when he won his first superbowl. But his antics last 4-5 years with Green Bay, Jets and now Vikings. I am going to play, no im retired, I am going to unretire, I am thinking about retiring, I am going to retire again, in twitter to teammates of vikings this year. No, I didnt say that, but bus cook says, why do you do this stuff brett, grow up.

I know I should grow up, and you would think I would have learned.

1. Brett loves all of the attention, media drama. He is more a drama queen then T O if you really think about it.

2. It is about the money, thats why he said he was going to retire. Then vikings players and management go to his house and offer more money.

i have never ever really wanted to see a player get hurt, physically, but with the Jets, Saints, Bears, Patriots, Giants all playing the vikings, with some brutal defenses, ours included. Would be poetic justice to me, to see Favre get bruised up but good, bloodied like Eli Manning got beat up to a pulp the other day. Then, Brett has to retire and all this hoopla that Brett wants from Media will be over for once and for all

Finally, need I remind you Hostile how Brett rubbed our noses in it last playoff game in Minny with a TD, (the vikings could have just sat on the football and kicked a field goal, game was over) but oh no. Brett wanted to rub our faces in it. and then remember the little song Brett sang in locker room to our team, pants on the ground.

Ymoyf6JIHKQ

now what do you say about brett Hostile? Its all about media drama attention and the money to me. Sure, he wants to win a superbowl. But I am in firm belief that what you dish out, you get back in spades, eventually.

Payback is coming to the vikings.

What was the report?

He was showing an area between the foot and the ankle where he still has a bone spur and allot of wear in that area that will continue to cause pain. Granted Brett has shown before he can play through pain but I think over the course of 16 games that ankle will become a problem that will affect his play

I'm certainly in the minority, but I just don't care about "his antics".

he's old, he doesn't like training camp, and he does what he can to get out of it. Big deal. If he can throw for 33tds and 7 ints, who cares about his off season antics?

I have never assumed the man was going to retire anyway. Why would any of you? Just assume the man is giong to keep playing football and none of this stuff should bother any of you.

It's not about that for me.

I knew he was coming back as well. Couldn't get anyone to bet otherwise either.

What turns my stomach are all the lies about his preferential treatment and the lies about the texts, and the lies about it not being about money.

He can lie to himself, don't lie to me.

I hope he gets his head caved in.

I remember Jordan signed a one year, 30 million contract in 1998 in his last year with the Bulls.

Unlike Jordan, I disagree that Favre is the greatest ever, but I can see how the man would be paid like it in his last season.

it pains me to agree but you are right

I know I would stick the rod in my ankle myself if someone offered me up to 28 million to throw the ball a few times.

Farve owes a commission to Tarvaris Jackson.

If Jackson were any better, the Farve wouldn't have the Vikings over a barrel.

Strangely, I agree with you, killah.

The Vikings are smelling a Super Bowl and they don't mind giving him incentives.

Farve, minus his offseason dramas, as been a fine QB. Yes, it is about the money and the adulation for Farve. And yes, he has earned his monies through skill, dedication and hard work. Oh, and a Super Bowl trophy.

So hate him for his drama but don't hate him for what he has done and earned.

I don't wish for any permanent disability on Favre but it wouldn't bother me if Anthony Spencer injured him in a way put him out for the season (and his career) in our next game against the Vikes. On the first offensive play of the game.

I hope the Vikings go 5-11 this year and Favre plays 7 games. That would be hilarious and probably put the Vikings in Salary Cap Hell and destroy their run.

There was very little doubt that Favre would come back this season. He is 3 TD passes away from 500 career passing TDs. Athletes may say they don't care about records, but most of them do. The question was about how he could play the Vikings for more money. His antics are getting tiresome and I sure hope this will be his last season.

Any word on the Favre not trusting Childress saga? ESPN has been scrolling it across their "bottomline" for a couple of days now. Too funny.

Going to be hard for the Vikings to make a serious run at anything with Favre and his gimpy ankle. Must factor the so called mistrust between Brett and HC Childress too. But the one thing that may haunt this team more than Brett and or Childress is Percy Harvin and his overall health.

That is the biggest issue for the Vikings.

And I hope the world lets him know that we SEE what he did.

I would LOVE to see Childress pull him out of a game for changing the plays in the huddle, put in Tavaris, and lose. Then the next week he starts against us and we put him down with a non-debilitating injury for the season.

Or, he gets knocked out for the season after two TD passes, forever stuck at 499.

Seen this story too many times.

For the first time I believe even Farve knew his body wouldn't hold up for another season. I fear he'll end up looking like Johnny U in San Diego, a old man trying to play a kids game.

bad ending
