Reid: Trent Cole will have MRI on ankle (http://cowboyszone.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/id/17439/reid-trent-cole-will-have-mri-on-ankle)

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters late Friday that defensive end Trent Cole would have an MRI (http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/blogs/Trent_Cole_to_have_MRI_on_ankle.html) on his injured ankle Saturday. Cole had his ankle stepped on early in the second quarter and was carted off the field. X-rays were negative.
The Eagles won the game, 20-17, but that's not much consolation for another ragged performance from the offense. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson left the game in the first quarter with a back injury that didn't appear to be serious. I'm watching a replay of the game as we speak and it looks like Jeremy Maclin didn't help out Kevin Kolb too much after Jackson departed.
And the Eagles' offensive line had no answers for their former linebacker Andy Studebaker, who had two sacks in the first half. Another embarrassing performance for left tackle Jason Peters from what I've seen so far. And the Eagles look vulnerable up the middle without starting center Jamaal Jackson.

I remember a couple posters here wanted us to pick up Studebaker off waivers when the Eagles 1st released him.

Jason Peters.
Another example of an "expert" and "genius" move by the Eagles that has sunk.

But somehow the Eagles have one of the best front offices in the NFL? Something doesn't add up. We'll hear about the RW trade all day but no one talks about Philly whiffing on overrated Jason Peters.

How did he make the pro bowl last year anyway? Everything I heard about his play in 09 was that it was average at best.

Probably the same reason Roy L. Williams and Larry Allen made the Pro Bowl in the early to mid 2000s! :D
They gave up a 2nd I believe, and then signed him to a very lucrative contract. He's known as a lazy player, and his play has clearly declined ever since he signed the contract. Anyone can connect the dots!

Maybe he was just the stone that the builder refused, the visual, the inspiration that made ladies sing the blues?

That's easy ---you have your everyday ruers--your after the game ruers, the occasional ruers , the "they cut my pet monkey" ruers. Then you have the they didn't sign ,draft or give my pet a chance ruers. So the are a multitude of potential ruers out there:)

Watching a little of the Eagles-Chiefs game, and I'm not impressed at all with Kolb. I really had never seen much of him, so I kept expecting to see this terror who is going to upgrade them so much, but I don't see it.
One very troubling thing if you're a degenerate Eagles fan (sorry, redundant) is that he seems to shy away from contact a little bit. Just like I saw last week, he gets a little skittish when there's any pressure at all and his footwork gets sloppy.
Wait 'til Ware, Spencer, and Rat get after him.
And BTW, BAT was the biggest Studebaker advocate out there.

in the nfl zone there is a thread where we were talking about this last night.
I have watched all 3 of their games this preseason.
I have yet to see him have a decent pocket and when he does I have yet to see him stay in it, read the defense and throw a good ball to a reciever.
It seems last night he didnt even recognize free rushers a couple of times, like he is lacking awareness. Which I guess makes sense for a young guy.
But it has looked like he drops back hits hist fifth or seventh step and then either has to avoid rushers or panics and runs anyway.
The first week against jacksonville the eagles announcers were talking about it like he is so mobile and can roll to his right or left and throw. It is starting to look like he does that prematurely.
I am sure they know what they are doing and it is the preseason, but he looks like a guy that will struggle in this division.
and that first week when GB rolls in, they love to blitz and they are going to score points on that defense...so it could get ugly for kolb. But again its preseason and they may just have him out there doing pretty basic stuff. TIme will tell.

So they play the first week? Excellent, a team I hate is going to lose. :ohboy:
