Per ESPN's message board:
I just got back early this morning. The game was pretty good, but that really didn't matter.
What you all need to hear, I noticed that every stoppage of play, Roy Williams was over on the AFC sideline talking to Drew Brees.
I ate at the New Liberty Grill on Saturday. Great Food. But again that wasn't the point. The point is that in the far corner, La'Roi Glover and Roy Williams were sitting at the same table as the same man. Drew Brees.
Last I remember, when a Cowboy, last spent that much time with a Free Agent, his name was La'Roi Glover.
Catch my drift?
Brees would be the perfect fit for the Cowboys. In my opinion, he's a rising star. It also helps that he's a born Texan. Let's bring him home Jerry.

Wouldn't Brees cost 2 1st rounders if he was franchised by SD?
Thanks for the info., though.
I really hope we find out about Henson first.

Players having friendly conversations with other players from different teams on Pro Bowl day? Interesting. Better keep an eye out on this one. ;)

Probably means nothing.

It is interesting.
Dallas hasn't made an offer to VT which tells me they are at least checking out other options. They also know Brees is from Texas and is available via trade.
I will reiterate that I would love Brees at the price of pick 20.
No draft pick we sign will improve our team as much as adding Brees would.
I understand why Henson fans would balk at this, but you need more than 1 QB and you need at least one proven guy who doesn't take a pre-game shake of metamucil and geritol and a post game bath in ben gay.
Brees' accuracy has been outstanding and he would excel with the offense BP wants to run (pun intended) here.
Oh and as bad as Sapp was this year, he coulda helped us quite a bit. Our DTs after Glover were the worst in the league and it probably wasn't even close.

Not if it were a sign and trade....
Galloway was a franchise tagged player....Jerry traded two #1 picks for him...the same it would've cost to sign him as a FA.
Jerry.... :banghead:

We got into a bidding war with Washington and lost by winning.
Thats the only joy Washington has had involving us in 6 years. :)

I have always liked Breez, I watched him play alot at Purdue... and he is now in his prime...
He is moble and a good team player.
He would make a huge impact, but then so would a Haley type impact kill a QB type player on D (With Parcells coaching there)
Sapp wouldn't have made any impact on a zimmy WUSS coached D...

All this is taking this guy's message at face value. I think you can discount 99% of rumors like this on the internet.

Well it should be easily confirmed by having someone pull out their tape of Sunday's Pro Bowl.
Ok, speak up! Who taped the Pro Bowl?

I Tivo'd it....so I could zip through it and only watch for Cowboy plays.
I did see Roy slapping hands with Brees on the side line with Dawkins of the Eagles right there, It was a TV timeout I think.
I replayed it a couple of times and the thought was there to me that Williams was being awful chummy with Brees!

I bet Flozell Adams' mom has a copy she'd be willing to part with.

San Diego has the Number 12 pick this year. Maybe RW is looking to go to SD. Isn't he a California boy?

I would gladly do it for the #20 If San Diego signs and trades him to us for the number 20 and a reasonable contract (doubtful) I'd definitely do it.

Normally I discount rumors like this myself. I also replayed the game though and saw enough to back up his claims. Roy and Brees were being real friendly on the sidelines. Anyways I think a first round pick and maybe a few extras would be worth having Brees run the show.

I would be mildly surprised if Brees was brought in. I like the kid, but I wonder how good a fit it would be.

In the current offense, I'd say he would be the ideal quarterback. Brees shines in the short to medium range passing game. His accuracy is nothing short of freakish and Joe Montana'ish. He helped Antonio Gates set all kinds of records last year. It wouldn't be much of a step down throwing to Whitten.
Of course, he was spoiled last year with that offensive line in San Diego. They gave him all kinds of time to survey the field.

I can't wait until Drew Henson takes the field and leads this team...then we can finally put this QB talk to rest. :war:
Maybe the trade has already been agreed to in principle and the cowboys are just welcoming him to the team, and they were just introducing themselves. I never heard of mcnabb and owens having dinner, or anyone of that manner. This seems to be a step higher than the courting done by the eagles last year.

breese would be an instant upgrade at a position we are despairingly thin at, and i would welcome it immediately. people say he played well only in a contract year, but isn't it more likely that the light bulb finally came on, and he is veteran enough to recognize defenses better, mechanics have become instinctive, and he "gets it" now? i would jump on that offer...
on the other hand, he would cost a lot and if we are actually seriously considering bledsoe and actually seriously believe henson can handle the job if the starter gets injured, then that would also make sense. either way, we must bring in someone with some experience who will in all probability be our starter.

We have our future in waiting. If SD decides NOT to tag him for whatever reason then this could be time well spent. It never hurts to put the idea into a possible top FA's head that our team wants him. Whether or not it pans out remains to be seen but the effort on the part of Williams and Glover is at least point to build on should the opportunity arise. However, it does not mean that he is coming to Dallas or is even likely to; it just means that the players have been building a foundation for the move.

Nope - Brees tagged, we are not going 2 #1's for a player that had 1 good year. CARTER WAS CUT LAST YEAR, WE SUFFERED THROUGH VT, Have Drew Henson in the wings.
Brees not coming to Dallas.
