View Full Version : TJ Houshmandzadeh deciding between Raiders and Skins ***MERGE***

The Seattle Times reports that free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh is expected to sign with either the Redskins or the Raiders. The Times cites "a source who had spoken with him." The decision is easy -- Houshmandzadeh should sign with the Skins, even if the Raiders offer more money this year (he's getting a $7 million baseline regardless). On top of a better chance to win, playing with Donovan McNabb alongside Chris Cooley and Santana Moss in a Mike Shanahan offense would give Housh his best chance to put up numbers. He could parlay that into a contract for 2011. Sep. 5 - 10:07 pm et

T.J. Houshmandzadeh looking at Raiders, Redskins
Posted by Michael David Smith on September 5, 2010 10:04 PM ET
After getting cut by the Seahawks and spurned by the Vikings and Bengals, free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is now looking at the Raiders and Redskins.

Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times reports that Houshmandzadeh has not returned messages since being released, but a source who had spoken to Houshmandzadeh said he appears to be narrowing down his destinations to either Oakland or Washington.

Of course the Redskins are looking at him. They'll sign any player whose previous year was a dissapointment.

two perennial basement dwellers, good luck TJ, you might want to consider retirement instead!!

And it doesn't matter if the raiders offer more money, it's just subtracted from the 7 million the Seahawks will owe him.

Sucks for him, must feel like being on death row and trying to decide your own method of execution

I wouldn't be so sure about that...I expect Oakland to tbe much improved this year. Actually I expect both teams to be in the 7 or 8 win range.

Let's see........I'm think I'm going to narrow my choices to the two franchises who have a history of ridiculously overpaying past-their-prime football players.

Washington makes sense because McNabb is there...

I was very surprised to see that Seattle had cut T.J. after he had signed a 4 year/20 million dollar deal the year before. Unreal.

Could careless where Housh goes. If he goes to Washington, so be it.

Surprised Oakland is interested since he doesn't run a 4.2 forty.

Really, is it bad to sign TJ for the vet min? How can this possibly be bad except to those blinded by hatred.

Translation of the bolded, "There are only two turds in this particular bowl and he has to grab one or the other."

Really, is it bad to sign TJ for the vet min? How can this possibly be bad except to those blinded by hatred.

Not hatred, pragmatism. A team that has crap for WR just cut a guy they gave a 5 year deal to and owe him $7 million no matter what.

That is a ringing endorsement of his level of talent at this point in his career.

Ravens agreed to terms with WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh on a one-year, $855,000 contract.

This one comes out of left field. The Ravens already have two aging possession-type receivers in Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason, so it's hard to see where Housh fits. Regardless, the egotistical former Seahawk is an extremely inexpensive upgrade over Mark Clayton at the No. 3 wide receiver spot. He held in all fantasy formats while he learns the Ravens' playbook and finds his niche. Sep. 6 - 11:29 am et
