The Redskins are still trying to sell individual game tickets for this Sunday's game on their website. You have to be a season ticket holder or waitlist member to log in and buy the tickets. Just goes to show how FedEx is too big and the downturn has hurt people's ability to pay for sporting events.

Except that DC has one of the lowest unemployment rates in America, thanks to the Feds and gummint contractors.

I think this is why Jerry capped the new stadium at 80k seats instead of making the default 100k.

Wow. Thats terrible.

Opening day, Sunday night football, nationally televised, big time rivalry game, new coach, new QB.

Pathetic. Cowboy fans would sell out to see Campo and Chad Hutchinson.

Washington area sports teams rarely sell out. It's because they suck.

It's easier for Philly fans to come down here to watch the Phillies play the Nationals because there are always tickets available.

No excuse for the Redskins not being able to sell out the season opener with the Cowboys. None at all.

Holy crap. Does this mean I might not see the game this Sunday due to a local blackout?

wrong. when i lived in dallas (the henson, hutch vinny days), single game and season tix were not sold out. in comparison, the skins had a 20 year waitlist for season tix and it was common for them to be passed down in wills. i'm a diehard cowboys fan but that statement is just false imo. sorry.

But But But they have one of the most LOYAL fanbases in the entire league. I wonder how Doc Walker could spin this crap since he loves to bag on the Cowboy fanbase. Just goes to show that the Redskin fanbase is no different than any other.

why was I under the impression that the redskins held the league record for consecutive sellouts? Was that like 10 years ago or did they move into a larger stadium while I was in a coma?

I don't know that nationally televised games can be blacked out locally. However even if they can, the league instituted a rule allowing owners to avoid blackouts as long as the visiting team receives all of the money the would have received if it had been a sell out. So Snyder has had to in essence buy his own tickets. The blackout deadline has already passed - it's been announced that the Bucs are being blacked out.

i know they lost a ton of fans when danny pulled some crazy stunts by suing season ticket holders who were out of work and couldn't live up to their season ticket contracts. it was really a class move by danny boy....

Only if you live within 75 miles of the stadium being blacked out.

If he increased the size to 100k, but cut all of the prices in half, he'd sell out every time. I don't see why he didn't, especially considering the larger economics of scale and size.

I'd imagine if he cut the ticket prices by about 25% across the board and increased the seating capacity to 100k+, he'd more than make up the difference in concessions and merch.

I thought I read somewhere that he was doing this last season as well.
Any truth to that?

This is a statement from their fans to Danny boy. Can't say I don't blame them. He sure has been treating them like rubbish, lately.

I looked on the Skins website (I'm still in the waiting list for tickets) and I didn't see a link. I know they have club seats available, but that's not uncommon and a link for Stubhub, but nothing about reg season tickets. Care to share?

Wow, thats unbelievable. If you can't sell out a cowboys game, I wonder what the rest of the season will be like.

Can you blame people though???? The economy is in the crapper, and lets not kid ourselves, we are being robbed by all these owners. Parking, tickets, souviners, and god help you if you buy food at the concession stand.

The NFL said the "average" cost of taking a family of 4 to an NFL game was over $400, and in DC or Dallas, I assure you its a helluva lot more than that. People are fed up, and I applaud it. For about half of a one game outing, you can buy the sunday ticket and watch every game all year. Its money well spent compared to going to a game if you ask me.

They do not have single game tickets remaining, they have been sold out for over 20 years. Any single game tickets that are available are extremely scarce and are from media and visiting teams returns. They have to supply a cerain amount of tickets to the media and visiting teams and the leftovers are released to the season ticket holders if they are not claimed. All teams have to do this.

Um no. Some of the tickets available were my friend's season tickets last year. He's been advertising "player returns" for three weeks, yet they still have over 100 tickets listed for sale. These are not player returns, unless all of the players returned their tickets three weeks ago and virtually none have sold since then. He's masking the fact that the stadium isn't sold out by trying to sell 1000 "player returns." Don't believe that B.S.

i think that was KC and that streak was broken last year when the browns went to KC and it ended up being a crazy and exciting game

Too big stadium, too high ticket prices.

Nobody wants to shell out 2,000 dollars a year for seats in row 29 of the upper deck. Buy a big 50 inch LED TV and sit from the comfort at home instead of driving out to Landover. Thats what I did :)

I have said for a few years now that the stadium needs to be reduced to 75k.

Hell, I remember the Cowboys struggling to sell out the playoff game against the Cardinals back in 1998. I am surprised its taken this long with this stadium and the on field performance
