IRVING, Texas - There are no silver linings the day after an NFL game. Just a win and a loss column.
"We're 0-1," Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips affirmed Monday at Valley Ranch, hours after an Alex Barron holding penalty negated a would-be tying touchdown on the final play of a 13-7 defeat in Washington.
There are 15 games left, however, and last Sunday's opener reinforced two 2009 trends about a Cowboys team that returns mostly intact: the offense again left points on the board, and the defense continued its late-season dominance from a year ago.
