Question

@shaner021 (http://twitter.com/shaner021): 2 Trades that make sense: McNeil to Jerry Jones, and V-Jax to Dan Snyder ...

SI_PeterKing (http://twitter.com/SI_PeterKing)
This is a smart Tweet. I agree on both.

Question
@mcsingh85 (http://twitter.com/mcsingh85): Where will Jerry get cash to pay these guys? Isn't payroll over $150 million already?

SI_PeterKing (http://twitter.com/SI_PeterKing)

Uncapped year. Vikes at 150m too.

I don't think Cowboys are going to deal for McNeill. They're happy with Free. But you asked about the sense of the deal, and it'd be smart.

Question
@bryanjreynolds (http://twitter.com/bryanjreynolds): Or Maybe Mankins to Dallas since that bridge has been nuked? ...

SI_PeterKing (http://twitter.com/SI_PeterKing)
I do believe Pats are open for business on Mankins.

I'm beginning to think we should invite Bob Kraft to dinner at Jerrys mansion, Get some discussions going on getting a top quality lineman. Not sure how it would effect the line in shuffling of players. But we have neglected the line for far too long. We have skill position players every team wishes they have. If we dont have at least a better then average line, preferably a top tier line, we are not going to maximize our potential.

Start drafting linemen in the first and second. Maybe trade someone llike a Barber/Choice/RWilliams/Barron,Holland - Whoever, but get some line help.

I think our line could be OK, but I dont like our depth at all. Young and Brewster are a year away and outside of them, we have trash. I would prefer a young stud inserted now and drafting concentrating on linemen going forward. Our skill positions are set for a few years.

You don't give up draft picks for quick fixes. Next season (whenever that may be), will have a salary cap. If Dallas trades for McNeill or Mankins they're going to need to lock them up long-term. Doug Free is in a contract year himself. IF he proves to be legit this year, like myself (and apparently the team) think he will be, then he's going to command a BIG contract as a young, prime starting left tackle.
