HOUSTON -- There seemed to be a confidence issue with kicker David Buehler (http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4672676/confidence-in-david-buehler-is-growing#comments).

Not so much with him but from outside of Valley Ranch and maybe even from the front office.

He missed two field goals in the first two weeks of the season, including a potential game-tying kick in the fourth quarter vs. Chicago last week.

On Wednesday, Buehler missed four field goals during the open media session, raising all sorts of questions about whether or not the Cowboys made the right decision about giving him the place kicker job full-time.

Buehler rebounded well on Sunday, in the win over the Texans, with two made field goals, of 49 and 40 yards. Buehler's 49-yarder came as time expired in the first half to give the Cowboys a 10-3 lead.

After the Wednesday misses were reported, the next day coach Wade Phillips told reporters they didn't have the expertise to judge kickers.

That's funny. Thank you, Wade!

It's going to take more time for me to have confidence, but hitting them this week was a step.

That's funny. Thank you, Wade!

What's to judge? Either they make FG's or they miss them. Judging technique does't mean squat if the results aren't there.

Is it me, or did they not reset the game clock before the kick? Joe Buck was going nuts about time expiring, but I don't see how in the world the clock runs down on a kick without it being a mistake.

He still gives me the heebie jeebies when he's lined up for a FG attempt. Definitely glad the kid had a good game today. It's important that the team rally around the guy and it appears they did that.

Glad he nailed both of his attempts, I pray it provides him with a mental edge..

I find it funny that these commentators will nitpick anything that gives Dallas the advantage.

Yet the failed to mention the pass interference on Dez twice, and how bout that no call blow to the head on Romo on the rusher?

I was encouraged with the progress, but it didn't seem like they had much confidence in Buehler in the first qtr when we went for it (a 2nd time) on 4th down. I think it would have been a 48yd attempt.

IN hindsight, might have been a great decision even though we didn't get the 1st down.

I think it was a good call. If you have a kicker that has been having ups and downs, you don't want his first kick to be a 48 yarder if you can help it. Get him something more manageable to help the confidence ans save the long stuff for when it's really needed, like at the end of either half.
