NFL & NFLPA Find Giants Violated OTA Rules
East Rutherford, N.J. - The NFL Management Council and the NFL Players Association have resolved the Players Association's complaint against the New York Giants concerning violations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement's off-season workout rules.
NFL Executive Vice President Harold Henderson and Players Association Executive Director Gene Upshaw have determined that the Giants violated rules pertaining to the length of workouts on organized team activity ("OTA") days and the scheduling of classroom sessions.
As a result, the Giants will forfeit two days of their off-season program (next Wednesday and Thursday, May 26-27) which had previously been designated as OTA days. Giants players are not permitted to be at the facility on those two days, but will be paid for the sessions. The club cannot reschedule the cancelled OTA days.
After a strength program day on Monday and an OTA day on Tuesday, Giants players will be off the remainder of next week and will resume off-season workouts on Tuesday, June 1.
Said Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, "We did not intentionally violate any rules. The issues that have been brought to our attention will be corrected."
