So dumb.
I can't believe the league lets these part timers officiate this ****.
I've almost had enough of the weekly garbage I see across the league.
Jeff Triplette is always involved in a dumb penalty. Its been a running joke with a couple of friends and myself that he will literally make the team you are rooting for lose with some stupid penalty.
He's the idiot who threw his flag right into the face of the Cleveland player a few years back.
So stupid. Doesn't excuse the team for letting the return man run it back like he did but this is just so dumb on so many levels.

I suddenly have an urge to punch Jeff Triplette and Mike Pereira in the face.

There is no doubting Colombo really did fall off balance and roll over. Witten even pointed at him laughing.
Such a horrendous call.

Being penalized for falling is rather stuipd, but when you're used to doing stupid things, bad stuff follows you around.

We just tied the game, it's not like that was the winning TD. For two veterans, act like you've been there before. Should be a business-like approach to it at that point of the game.

Don't make excuses for them. It was stupid to do. Its not the first time this team has done something stupid and won't be the last unfortunately. It was stupid. Had Roy done it we would be roasting him like a Thanksgiving turkey. Witten knows better as does this team. But its stupid things like this that always cost us games. ALWAYS. We can sit here and cry about Garrett. We can cry about Jerry. But stupid things like this is why we're 1-3 right now.

I have to say it again.
Why exactly is Dallas celebrating?
First, your team was 1-2.
Second, it's a tie game, and there is more work to be done.
Third, the Cowboys were in scoring position three straight times and only put up 3 points.
That offense should have hung 40+ points on the Tennessee Titans today.
It may be a dumb rule, but it's a rule.
That crew is known to penalize the Cowboys heavily.
It was wasn't a smart football.

Why exactly is Dallas celebrating?
The fact that Jason sniffed the endzone in like forever?

BINGO!
This team routinely finds a new way to crap on itself. I've never seen a team find more ways to fail than this team. In the past few years it's something new just about every other week.

I'm not giving them a pass. They shouldn't have done it. However, the penalty is meant to stop excessive celebrations and the penalty was for going to the ground. The big idiot just fell. He didn't go to the ground to celebrate. The celebration by Chris Johnson was much more demonstrative.

I picked Dallas to win 31-0.
I whiffed just like Leonard Davis. :)
Only the Cowboys could pull a loss out of that game...
I like Dallas over Minnesota...
Seriously, I do.
Alright, Colombo.
Ray Edwards doesn't respect you....
Now, go spike him into the Metro-dome turf.

You just can't give the refs the ammo to shoot you with. In this case the Cowboys handed the refs a gun and bullets. You just can't give them ANYTHING. They did and it cost us the game IMO. I just knew it would when it happened. As a Cowboy fan how can you not? This happens more times than not. Its become predictable at this point. This team will shoot itself in the foot before they dominate a game. Same thing that happened in the Deadskins game. Soon as I saw Roy catch that TD before I could cheer I had to wait and see if there was a flag and sure 'nuff there was one on Barron.
Before they do anything they need to learn how to not shoot themself. Miles Austin should not be getting holding calls. Just shouldn't be.

I believe the only reason they threw the flag was due to the little roll-over Columbo did after he fell. Had he just fell on his big fat ***, the flag might not have been thrown. But, the little tumble did it IMO.

Just another reason why I think Refs have taken control of this game. No matter what happened this should not have been flagged. If this warranted a flag then CJ should have been flagged also.
I really believe that Refs should just let these guys play. Sure its not an excuse for doing what they did. But if Cowboys are flagged for these ticky tack fouls then the other teams should be as well.
If I was the Cowboys I would make a big stink out of this. I'm tired of these Refs making silly calls that determine the outcome of a game.
Another foul that shouldn't have been called was Austin. Watch the replay. Austin was not blocking anyone until he saw the Reciever get the ball.
I agree that there should be some committee to penalize bad Refs. They have too much power in the game and they are spoiling it.
No im not biased. Games these days are too close to call. One bad call can really ruin it. Unfortunately, that was another case of a bad call just like Roy Williams fumbling the ball in the Chicago game.

Wow I just watched the clip and now I'm really pissed. That should not have been a foul.
Refs are just throwing flags for the hell of it. Someone shot that ref that made that call.

Im thinking that the team needs to perfect a new "soup nazi" celebration. Just hand the ball to the ref without making eye contact and walk slowly off the field. Show no signs of excitement.
There is a lot about the nfl that im starting to hate. Mostly the rules regarding celebrations and protecting the qb. So many of the roughing penalties in the NFL today arent even cheap shots, they are simply accidental.

AGREED. In a close game like this, NOBODY should celebrate. Celebrate when you get the win.
No Cowboys fan should be upset with the officials for doing their job. They would not have thrown the flag if Dallas would have just handed them the ball after the touchdown.

Clearly Columbo fell down but the rules make no allowance for that and their lies stupid IMHO.

That touchdown on Scandrick was when i knew we were in for it with the refs, though the reciever caught it, the ref from behind the play already threw a flag when there was minimal contact. The ref with the best view never threw a flag. how can you throw a flag if you are behind the play like he was?

With all the yearly rule changes, the league should make it's entire rulebook easily accessible to the public. An informed audience is a knowledgeable one.

This, and Witten pointing at him. On the one hand, it's a stupid rule, a stupid interpretation of a stupid rule, and a ticky tack call in a game tied near the end of regulation.
However, when Witten turns and points at Columbo's somersault, what is the ref supposed to do? Yeah, maybe JW was just laughing at his own guy, but he shouldn't have brought attention to it by pointing at the guy on the ground.
Again, dumb rule, but dumb actions too.

This was my biggest problem. I was like what are you celebrating for. All you did was TIE the game. A game you should have been leading anyway. Celebrating like that just pinpoints that this team doesn't focus on the big picture most of the time.

Michael Irvin did a 3 minute dance routine after every 6 yard first down catch and Cowboy fans loved it, so I don't know how you can blame this team for celebrating climbing out of a huge hole and tying the game with less than 5 minutes left late in the 4th quarter. How often do people complain that this team doesn't have enough emotion?
Every team in the NFL celebrates TDs, including far lesser TDs than that. Techinically the ref is correct by the letter of the law. My problem is if you're going to call that by the letter of the law, call it every time. Mulitple times a week a player scoring a touchdown is tackled by his teammates in celebration and they hit the turf and it's not called.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks the refs was correct in throwing the flag. You can't have a celebration involving two players. It's the rule and was deserved.

They didn't call it for a celebration involving two players. They called it because Colombo touched the ground.
And players handing the ball off to an offensive lineman to spike happens multiple times every week. Again, if you're going to call it by the letter of the rule call it against every team, every time.

Instead of 15 yard personal fouls these types of infractions should be fines to the player(s) involved.
There is no way that rules violation should have impacted the outcome the way it did. Sure the cover team should have done it's job but we have a kicker who is on the roster because he can get the touchback. That call took away that weapon and affecting the hopes of tens of thousands of fans as well as the organization for something like that is asinine.
Fine the players. That will bring about the outcome desired by the league while not affecting the game on the field.
I agree with the poster who said the NFL seems to be trying to figure out ways to drive me away from the sport I have loved forever.

I missed the announcement by Triplett when he said it's a 15 yard penalty and your not allowed to cover the kick.
