IRVING -- Coach Wade Phillips did everything he could to avoid calling the excessive celebration penalty against Marc Colombo on Sunday a dumb play.
But it was easy to tell Monday that Phillips was using a great deal of self-restraint when talking about the 15-yard penalty after Jason Witten's fourth quarter touchdown.
Witten gave the ball to the offensive tackle after the score and Colombo spiked it. Then Witten and Colombo jumped for a chest bump, Colombo lost his balance, fell down, then turned a back flip on the ground.
NFL players are prohibited from touching the ground when celebrating a touchdown.
"We went through that with Terrell Owens where he got in a track stance one time and touched the ground," Phillips said. "Since then we told everybody you just don't touch the ground celebrating.
