1. Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU, 6'1", 220. QBs go early. Great athletes fall to ready teams. We're ready. Best player in this Draft class. He is equally good in run or pass support, returns punts, and is a team leader. I am saying we should move Newman to FS and have him put on 10 pounds. He will benefit from getting to face the football. We get the best cover corner in this crop.
2. Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida, 6'5", 320. Maurkice Pouncey's twin. We need interior OL to start shoring up this team, especially in the running game.
3. Kristofer O'Dowd, C, USC, 6'5", 300. If you have not seen this kid play, do yourself a favor and watch him. He is nasty. A potential Pro Bowler down the road when he matures a little. He never stops. If he knocks his guy down he either makes sure he stays down or looks for someone else to hit.
4. Ricky Stanzi, QB, Iowa, 6'4", 225. I removed him from my last Mock and I regretted it. Perfect backup QB who can be groomed to one day start in the NFL. I don't mind McElroy of Bama later, but if Stanzi is here in the 4th, I make the move.
5. JaQuizz Rodgers, RB, Oregon State, 5'7", 190. Our 3rd RB behind Jones and Choice needs to be a return guy who can come in on 3rd downs. In the open field, no one will catch this guy. Yes, I am projecting Barber will be gone.
6a. Owen Marecic, FB, Stanford, 6'1", 245. Getting stronger right up the middle is a theme in this draft. Nothing helps an OL more than a FB who can lead block and level his assignment. This kid is a hole opener and bulldozer.
6b. Mike Mohammed, ILB, California, 6'3" 240. Gets to the ball carrier. Very good on blitzes. Wraps up when he tackles and tries to strip the ball. Pick from the Chargers for Crayton.
7a. Cecil Shorts, WR, Mount Union, 6'1", 200. Small school kid with big time production. Check out these numbers. 2008...77, 1484 and 23 scores. 2009...100, 1736 and 19 scores. Also played QB and ran 34 times for 206 yards and 8 more scores. Is an All American sprinter on their track team. Don't sleep on this Div III guy. Goodbye Ogletree.
7b. Jason Pinkston, OT, Pittsburgh, 6'5", 310. His Draft stock is down due to a previous knee injury. Was once a 2nd round projected OT. Worth the gamble. Pick from Miami for McQuistan.
You're always welcome to hate it.

How about a what if we switch back to the 4-3 mock?
Would you trade back for Clayborn?
What OLBs do you like?

He is the first freshman to ever start his first game at Center in USC History and one of only 3 freshmen to start on the OL for USC since WWII.

not crazy about . Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida, 6'5", 320
I rather have
Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA
Quan Sturdivant, ILB, North Carolina
FS Quinton Carter OK 6-1 #195
you need to check out a OK game
Carter is exactly the type of versatile defensive back NFL teams are looking for to slow down the pass-happy offenses in today's game. He has played strong and free safety in Bob Stoops' defense at Oklahoma because of his physicality and speed; his ability to make the big hit, support the run, play centerfielder, or even line up in man coverage is rare among college safeties.
according to Walter mock they should be

Still shocked that they let that kid get out of town. Thought for sure he would have stayed at home and played at UofA. I'm still stinging from that loss last Sat by the way. You guys have a very good young football team though.

I like it, especially the first 3 rounds, except maybe switch out Pouncey for a FS, but I would not be complaining at all if we took interior o-line in the 2nd. I'm not sold on Stanzi, how would you feel about waiting a year or two for Barkley? I watch USC alot and i think he's going to be very good with grooming.

Any draft that has us taking 2 offensive lineman in the first 3 rds are fine with me.
Where did Dallas get another 6th?
I think the Crayton trade upgrades to a 6th if he catches 40 balls, but as of now is a 7th (although he's on pace to upgrade that pick)
I thought the McQ trade was for a swap of 6ths if Miami had a worse record.....which I don't see happening.

Yes, I know it is a conditional 7th. I am projecting it to become a 6th. I admitted above that I forgot we gave our 7th for Brent. So the last pick is dropped.

That's my favorite by far. You have a couple personal favorites in there.
Peterson would be a difference maker, O'Dowd is one of my favorite lineman in the draft dating back to last year, Rodgers is the poor mans McCluster who I'm still not over (actually just posted this on another board), Owen is a pet cat and I LOVE the Shorts pick.
Explained in the post itself.

OK, that makes sense.
However, wikipedia says that the McQ trade wasn't for a 7th, but was simply a swap of 6th rounders only if Miami has the higher pick in the round, otherwise nothing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_NFL_Draft
I thought I heard that around the time of the trade, but haven't been able to confirm (I question wiki's source reference since it is just the original undisclosed trade announcement).
However, that makes sense. If Crayton is worth a 6/7th, McQ is probably worth an 11th.....or a swap of 6ths.
I think this is probably what it ends up being:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
6. For Crayton

Bruins don't even make good college football players so what makes you think they'll make good NFL players? :D
Moore and Ayers would look very good in a Cowboys uni by the way.
Hos, very good mock. I'm not big on Pouncey but I understand the pick. I also think Newman will make a decent Free Safety. It would prolong his career and I'd be willing to bet his INT numbers will go way up.

Nice start. It's always nice to learn about the PAC Ten players.
I can't argue with taking Patrick Peterson. The only knock on him is cramps. Plus, he's not the LT this team needs, imo. Eric Berry would be nice, but he came out last year.
If Dallas picks him, they are getting the best CB to come out of the SEC since Champ Bailey.
I've stated before that I strongly believe that Terence Newman is in a three year block of his prime, and I smell some tack on years, especially his 11th year. Newman has been so consistently good, and he's still one of Dallas' best, most consistent players. You can depend on him to play really good. Newman gives you everything he has on a game to game basis. Newman is simply a blue-chip pure cover CB.
If you draft Peterson, Peterson is either going to compete with Jenkins, or you are going to have to let Newman play out the rest of his prime for another team, imo. Newman is a pure CB. He's not a S, imo. At least, you wanted to keep him.
It's going to be tough to draft Peterson that high and not play him. You don't draft a guy that high and not start him, imo. You have two Pro Bowl CBs, and a team that appears to be going into a semi-rebuilding mode.
Mike Jenkins just needs new safety help and better coaching. The safety play (and the scheme) has not helped Mike Jenkins this year. Jenkins is a really good CB, and he will get back to his Pro Bowl form, imso.
Dallas would be loaded at CB, but they are hurting up front on both sides of the ball and at both safeties.
This is how I see it:
1. Peterson competes with both CBs (especially Jenkins) and Newman stays. This will not be easy for the top 5 pick, because Newman is a crafty veteran who still has great physical skills, and Jenkins is a super talented player who has been to the Pro Bowl.
2. Jenkins and Peterson start, and Newman goes to another contending team. Teams will for sure go after Newman, especially teams who are close to winning.
If Dallas doesn't draft Peterson, and they should if he's the best available on their board, this is a deep CB class. They found Mike Jenkins (a Pro Bowl player) (at pick number 25) in the first round.
I really wish Dallas would be in a position to pick a LT in round 1 and a guard in round 2. They could plug them in and start them and upgrade the offensive line.
Mike Pouncy could be plugged in for Leonard Davis right now. The NFL Scouts love him at guard, but they are monitoring his center play. I read where some stated that he is a blue-chip guard, but he is adjusting to center. That adjustment takes time according to the scouts. He very well could slide to center one day.

I agree with most of what you're saying regarding Peterson, including the "best since Champ..." part.
However, I think you're missing out on the Peterson vs. Newman bit. Newman (when healthy) can still play in this league, I don't think his spot is in question at all.
If the Cowboys took Peterson, the man I would look for him to replace immediately would be Orlando Scandrick. You work Peterson in the nickel and dime coverage packages and let him wet his feet.
Newman isn't going to play forever and Peterson could eventually man that spot opposite of Mike Jenkins. Scandrick, if they so wish to keep could be decent depth and who knows, a guy like Bryan McCann might prove to be better depth.
IMO, if we're drafting Top 3-5, you still take the BPA. Unfortunately, there are no safeties or o-tackles that will be worth taking at that spot.
The only other viable options would be (in order of importance and value): DT/DE and QB.
Dont like Stanzi. Love the Rogers pick. If this happened I would be very happy.

* I don't think Rogers makes it to the 5th.
* Not sure Peterson will be there when we draft (though if we end up second, the only contender will be the Bills..).
We're hoping people make a run at QBs or something when most losing teams have CB weaknesses..Detroit, for one, is projected by CBS Sports to have a need for *2* Cbs.
