Jason Garrett spoke smoothly Monday evening, as Princeton replaced UH.
In doing so, Garrett avoided some basics. He didn't call himself Mr. Fix It.
But the battlefield promotion of the one-time San Antonio semi-pro wasn't the news, nor was the departure of Wade Phillips. Jerry Jones had caved in the name of business, doing something he had pledged never to do, and this leads to a more dramatic possibility.
After Garrett fails, will Jones cave yet again and replace himself?
Jones set this up Monday as something he will face within months. After all, he said he could remove Garrett's interim title “if the team plays outstanding and we have success.”
