Bradie James: Doesn't matter if Donald Duck or Jason Garrett is the coach, it's time to step up

IRVING – Jason Garrett made a difference in his first game as interim coach.
Still, the Cowboys would not have ended a five-game losing streak if the players had not responded with one of their best performances of this moribund season.
"It doesn't matter if the coach is Donald Duck," linebacker Bradie James said. "We've got a job to do.
"He's my boss, just like if your boss turned over. You've got a job to do. Our job is to go out and play hard, play to the best of our ability and let the results take care of themselves."
James was among 23 players to serve an early Thanksgiving meal Tuesday at the Salvation Army's Carr P. Collins Social Services Center. He has been highly complimentary of Garrett. It was James and owner Jerry Jones who presented Garrett with a game ball after the 33-20 victory over the Giants.

If that's true and all it takes is to "step up"....then he (and others) owe Wade an engraved apology for waiting so long to do it that it cost him his job.
I really wonder about the IQ of some of these players when they say things like this.

They aren't trained speakers. I think fans try to read way too much into every word that comes out of their mouths.

James is one of the few that's been playing hard all year. He has every right to say this. He brings his lunchpail to work every week and backs it up on the field. People want to look to Ware and Witten as leaders, they should look more to James and follow his example because those other two were completely mailing in their efforts while crying about how others on their team weren't doing their job.
Ware's comments about the secondary needing to cover better to give the pass rush a chance were especially hilarious. Even when we played zone last week and had every area of the field covered our pass rush still didn't even sniff Eli. Man up and do your job and be accountable. Our pass rush has been horrid this year.

I'm as much a fan of Bradie as anyone, but this is a load of crap. Ware and Witten are two guys who don't just mail things in. In case you didn't notice the Cowboys are currently the 21st ranked passing D.
Some of that comes down to the rush, but the secondary has to bear the responsibility for giving up third down after third down. Ware has 8 sacks on the season...for most guys that is their ENTIRE season. Thats mailing it in?
Hes one guy, not sure how much you expect. If you're going to blame our poor pass rush on something blame it on Ratliff having a down season or Spencer still not putting up great sack numbers, or the secondary screwing up over and over again. Ware is the last guy on the list to blame for our poor passrush this season.
Witten is Witten and until the last couple of weeks his numbers were higher than last year. Again, hes one guy, how much do you expect? Blame the line for poor protection and run blocking, or the RBs for going down too easily, or Kitna for 7 INTs in less than 4 games. Witten is again well down that list.

Its not about the numbers. Do you watch the games? Other than Ware's customary one sack a game, how much pressure has he gotten? And has he done it against double and triple teams, as he has in past seasons? Hell no. He's been largely single blocked this entire year, as teams are no longer afraid of him because he doesn't get pressure at all. Starting with the GB game i have not seen him get almost any pressure on QB's whatsoever. Every team leaves the tackle alone on an island with him for the majority of the game now and he does nothing. Have there been any plays since the first game against the NYG that you've seen him up in the QB's face at all? Forcing early throws or scrambles out of the pocket? I challange you to find me games like this because he's not gotten pressure again.. at all.
You want more concrete examples? Remember the play against GB where Rodgers had his 30 yard run? That was Ware's fault. He rushed about 10 yards upfield right off the snap leaving that huge hole in the line and instead of realizing he went too far and busting his arse back after he saw Rodgers take off he lazily jogged down the field while Brooking and his other teammates went after Rodgers. There were other plays where you could see clearly that he wasn't putting the effort in, but its pretty obvious to anyone who watches that the effort has not been there from him. He's a man beast, he should be dominating anyone one on one, but he's simply not someone who scares other teams this season.

Neither was the Pillsbury Dough Boy, but he did anyway.
