IRVING, Texas — Jon Kitna has cracked the code. He's figured out the secret to the success of Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman, his most heralded predecessors as quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

Throw to No. 88.

Rookie Dez Bryant is the latest to slip into that jersey and so far he's lived up to Jerry Jones' prediction that he'd be a worthy heir to Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin. While he showed flashes of his dazzling skills early this season when Tony Romo was healthy, he's become a bigger part of the offense since Kitna took over for the injured Romo.

Over four games, Bryant has 23 catches for 328 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers are not only the best on the team in that span, they are among the best in the league.

I think its great that Kitna got to know Dez better...but it also makes me wonder why Romo sometimes has trouble connecting with his receivers. I cant help but feel Kitna is easier to connect with personally and professionally. Maybe the players like the "soldier" mentality better and that is why players like Kitna. Maybe its Romo always having to come off looking "kewl" and kitna not caring about any of that. I dont know. But what I do know is that Romo needs to learn to reach out more and get to know people better and maybe he could have had this kind of success with Dez and maybe connected better with Roy Williams so it wasnt such a collosal failure. I wont even get into TO because he was problem child with almost all his QBs.
