ARLINGTON — Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is optimistic Tony Romo will return this season, but fans might call for the team to stick with Jon Kitna after the 38-year-old quarterback's back-to-back outstanding performances.
In guiding the Cowboys to a 33-20 win over the Giants last weekend and a 35-19 victory over the Lions on Sunday, Kitna threw for a combined six touchdowns and just one interception.

“He's got a lot of mental toughness, he loves to play the game, and I think we've seen that the past couple of weeks,” interim coach Jason Garrett said.

The Cowboys are 2-2 with Kitna under center, and Garrett and several players have raved about his leadership qualities.

“He's a natural leader,” Garrett said. “He's tough and competitive.”

Said nose tackle Jay Ratliff: “They say a team reflects its leadership, and he's doing a damn good job.”

Good article. I like his intangibles but I need to see how he does against the Saints.
