OK guys,
I just had that experence I hope you all do at some point!

I talked to a buddy, said I wanted to go downtown to Indy, walk around outside the convention center where they hold the NFL Combine...He said sure, lets go...

So we walk around, I see the ESPN Radio network doing an interveiw with the QB McPearson...Lots of Scouts and agents are pouring about...Its a scene rifght out of Jerry McGuier (sp?)

Anyway, we walk over to Shula's steak house...There is Ted Contrell of the Vikes chatting with scouts and having a cold one...

Then Bill Belicheck sp? comes in...does a one on one interview with some player to be..couldn't see who he was...But I thought, WOW, he is going about this one on one himself...IMPRESSIVE!

We take off & head acroos the street to Champions, a sports bar...

I set down & start chatting with the Virgina Tech offensive Coach who is coaching lil Vick there, Nice guy,(damn, I already forgot his name, damn hits in football) he was on the stafff with Davie at Notre Dame and said J.Jones was a great kid, but they couldn't force him to go to class. and he was often hurt...

Anyway, I mention my LOVE for the Cowboys & he says oh really? there are right behind us!

So I turn around & there is Jerry JONES & Bill Parcells in a booth with a couple other guys...WOW!

So, I think, no guts no glory!

So I walk over & introduce myself & shake hands with Jerry, (Bill is in the middle of the booth drinking a ice tea too far away to shake his hand...

Anyway, he (Jerry) says his is negotiating a CONTRACT RIGHT NOW!

So I say before I leave....3-4 defense right? As I look Parcells in the eye...He says NOTHING...but gives me a half smile...

I say ok, I am just Indy's biggest fan behind you guys 100%...

So I get back to my spot at the bar and the V.Tech coach does thats Jimmy Sexton they are talking to...The agent...

So...Anyone know who he represents?

I don't read lips & didn't want to stare at THEM ALL NIGHT, BUT, PARCELLS WAS LAYING DOWN THE LINE big time!

He also looks like he has lost some LBS, but lost NO fire...

Anyway, no huge scoupe, but exciting none the less for me...

The V.tech coach said Clarett was slow and still turns peope off...(His son is a scout for the Colts & his daughter does cap work for the Jags I think he said...

Fun night for a true football JUNKIE!

I had to leave because I have a date, but see ya guys!

I wonder who the player/agent was that was having negotiations with Jerry and or Stephen Jones?

Thats an interesting story.

Anyone want to know what I did this evening?

There I was, home from work, with some Generals Tso's Chicken and an Egg roll. Finished that up. Went outside to check the mail. Made a few phone calls. And watched television. Law and Order SVU had a chilling story about a 15 year old girl who was murdered. The story had more twists and turns than a windy mountain road. In the end, the porn producer did it.

Anyone jealous of my story?

I wasn't knocking Glenn, just sharing info. I watch the Texans when I'm not watching the boys. And Glenn is a good guy, no doubt. Just wouldn't want him right now as a CB on our team. The Texans will probably draft another CB to replace him as a starter in a year or two.

Could it be that Jerry and Bill were already discussing terms for LSU DE Marcus Spears and LSU CB Corey Webster? :D

IMO, if Mike Williams is gone by 11, Spears will be a Cowboy. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if we snatch Webster in the 2nd round.

Belichick loved Nick Saban's LSU recruits for his defense. Me thinks the Tuna will follow suit. LSU has been New England's farm system for years, and look at the results.

Killer bro, that must have been a cool moment to see the top dogs of the Cowboys like that! Kudos for having the balls to go talk to em, I really don't know if I would have done it myself.

I got to meet Tony D at a signing for his bottled water company he had back in the early 90's. I remember it was my turn to go up to the table and I just froze up. He laughed and asked me my name, took the bottle from me and signed it. I finally quit freakin out and told him that he was my childhood NFL idol and that I will always remember his 99 1/2 yard run against the Vikings on Monday night. I never thought I'd actually get to meet him and he was a class act like I thought he would be. I still have the signed bottle which has all his career stats and his picture on it.

On a side note, here in Austin Hollywood Henderson lives here and it's quite easy to meet him too. I've chatted with him for several hours at one time and he is a riot to talk with! He is crazy like a mofo, I can only imagine how he was back in the day.

I think this says alot about why coach BP handled JJ the way he did in preseason and the early part of the season. The way I read that is that at ND he didn'tunderstand his responsibility to the team and that he wasn't willing to go 100% if he had minor injuries. It seems that coach BP was trying to show him that he is in the pros now and the expectations are much higher when somebody invests millions of dollars on you. apparently it worked - thankfully. I recallmany on this board were crticizing coach BP for this but he may in fact had a legitimate reason for doing what he did.

Sexton IS BP's agent and if they were working on a deal expect Jason Ferguson to be a Cowboy by night's end even if they can't make it official until March 3rd.

We weren't negotiating anything pertaining to Ferguson cuz he's not a FA. Not till March 2nd. That would be tampering, and even if they were tampering Jerry Jones would go out and tell anyone about it.

If they were negotiating a contract it's either someone currently on the cowboys roster or someone that's already been released.

Did you tell them to fire Zimmer?

Thanks for sharing this with us. I am jealous of course.
I think this post absolves him of all past wrongs. Too generous?

You DO need to follow up, Thomas.

I've heard the league is being lax on this this year because of owner meetings March 3rd.
Thats just hearsay but every year 20 guys sign by the first day of freee agency is over many with the same agent. We all know that one agent didnt fly to 20 cities and get the paperwork signed in 5 hours. ALL of these teams tamper.

Last year almost all the good free agents had a contract to sign come the first day of free agency and only waited if they didnt feel it was enough money. I think we learned you ant be patient and especially with all the team that have money this year.

BP calls up guys directly and tells them he wants them in here.

Since Sexton is his agent nothign looks amiss but you can bet they didnt have dinner and rinks without discussing ways to make the Cowboys better and Sexton clients rivher. IF they did they all deserve to be fired.

Thats like one of us having dinner with a sex symbol (think Adriana Lima) and never asking for a date.

OK guys,
I just had that experence I hope you all do at some point!

That my friend is absoultly too cool!!!!!

Thanks guys,

Only you true hard core fans could understand how I must have felt!

No, I didn't get to mention zimmer and didn't see him...BUT...My 3-4 comment/question and Parcells very, very faint smile tells me what I wanted to know there...(I hope ha ha)

Basically, it was one of my "Things I always have wanted to do" as a small business owner to get a chance to meet & shake hands with Jerry...I have mucho respect how he turned around his business life to become owner of America's team...

I have heard Parcells won't say much of anything anyway...But I would have loved the chance to talk X's & O's with the guy...But they were VERY busy...Someone was talking the whole time...They WERE conducting business...

Jerry ended up leaving first with I think it was Steven?...While Bill remained with Sexton and 2 other guys I didn't recognize...I left before they did...

Good reseach Cowboyman Dan!
I would say Fergy would be my guess?

Captain American: Yes, that is him, Kevin Rogers, great guy to talk to...He also coached McChunky Soup when he was at "Cuse" with our new coach from there...He said McChunk is now up to 260 LBS and is TOO heavy! He said he use to puke in games then too...

He also said the "Cuse" coach we just signed, knows DEFENSE BIG TIME!
He also said Braylon Edwards will be picked before Mike Williams (I was asking him some questions)

He then said his lil Vick QB could play 4 positions in the NFL...QB, RB. WR & DB...He said that both Vick kids came from the projects and hopefully lil Vick with stay out of trouble...

Nors: We don't want Bashir, I watched him play alot here in Indy and he isn't a very good cover FS and doesn't tackle well and comes up with NO big plays...I would say no chance for him to be signed for us...

It isn't yet March 2, so it would have to be either renegotiating a player already under contract or negotiating a recently released player.

Maybe they're extending Witten's contract?

Oh,
Rogers also mentioned that Alabama Birmingham WR Roddy White is looking GREAT!

I was also talking to some Steelers scouts at the bar...They think they can replace Buress with Randle El getting his chance to shine...Said Buress drops too many balls...They were pretty nice guys...

HH. Good post last night! To be honest, it was the first time since I've been around that you opened up and let us see the real you. I know you hate Zimmer and that's cool, but I can tell that no matter what, you really love the Cowboys in spite who our coaches are.

Next year, go downtown and plant some bugs in those booths! We need inside info!! :D

Oh I am so going to catch it from ya'll for this but I don't care. It's how I feel about it...

I hate it when people won't leave the celebs alone when they are out in public. Bug them all you want at their workplace...stadium, TC. In public, leave them alone. The public and paparazzi drooling over them is stupid. America has a serious hero worhiping problem.

My similar story is that I said hi to Mark Cuban. I said I thought he was the coolest owner, agressive, savy etc.. turned Mavs around. A friend got me free court side seats. I said this to him under the seats as he heads towards the locker room and I'm off to the concession stands. That's where you say hi if you get a chance. At a resturaunt, I would never bother him. I heard once that Troy Aikman in his prime at least had to hire a professional fashion person to buy his stuff. He said the main reason he did it and could not be with her shopping was because he gets mauled when he is in public.

Nothing personal.

I'm not sure whether or not to believe your story HH, but hell, the truth don't matter, I always say it's how you tell the story that matters most, and that sir, was entertaining. Especially the, "Hey Bill, we're going 3-4 right?" *wink* *wink* "Am I right? Right?" :D If I turned around in my booth at the local sports pub only to see Jerry and Bill doing some business, I'd hope that I didn't have too many beers in me so that I could look as least the fool as possible when I do the obligatory "I'm your biggest fan" thing.

Waffle...I have been around for years...Started out at the old CNN SI boards...Been a Cowboys fan since they LOST to the Colts in the Super Bowl...Yeah, every once in a while I let out the real me...ha ha...

Speaking of Sexton, Inmanroshi could have a point too, Sexton has MANY Clients, we might be after a few...

True Blue:
I have been down to the the Combine here in Indy now 3 out of the last 5 years...I have seen alot of great players & coaches...

Mean Joe Green, Calvin Hill, Bill Cowher, Belichec, talked to X Cowboy great Cornell Green for an hour over a couple beers...

Met & chatted with Tony Dorsett over in Hawaii for an hour back in 86...

Got Jimmy Jones's playing glove after he gave it to me after the Colts Cowboys game after we won the Super Bowl way back when....

Heck, I even partied with Ickey "Shuffle" Woods who is a agent now....BUT...

I have always wanted to meet Jerry...I told my buddy thats what I wanted to do and I just put myself in that position, sure I would have loved to talk X's & O's...But it was a great experence none the less...

I will try & get the booth NEXT to them next time to get players names!

Great story, HH!

And for those who might be skeptical, I've seen Jerry out at restaurants at training camp, and he ALWAYS takes the time to speak with Cowboys fans. I saw him talk to a girl (meaning a schoolage girl, not some hottie :)) who approached him for 10 minutes or so at his table. He seems like a genuinely nice person.

BTW, good call on Bell, Inman... Although I'm sure Ferguson's name was brought up at some point, too. :)

Ditto on CLab's take on Jones.

My mother-in-law and the Sr. Jones' attend the same Methodist church, and on occasion Julie and I go to services w/ her.

Jerry's always cordial and approachable.

BTW, what OTHER team owner do you see letting fans at training camp try on his super bowl rings?? ;)

I here Lurie lets Eagle fans hold the "buy 10 double meat/double cheese whoppers, get 1 free" punch card he uses to feed Reid w/ at their weekly brain-storming meetings though.
