Roy Williams stands up, takes blame for Cowboys' loss

ARLINGTON -- It is not uncommon for players to embrace attention when they've had a great day.
After a bad play or a bad game, however, only the grown-ups show up.
Roy Williams always shows up. He might drop four passes, miss two blocks, make some sort of silly mistake or be responsible for the key fumble.
But after the game, in front of the glare of TV lights, microphones and pointed questions, he's always there.
He was again Thursday after a maddening fumble that turned him from the star of the game to, once again, the most cursed Cowboy.
With Dallas leading New Orleans 27-23 late in the fourth quarter, Williams caught a short pass over the middle from Jon Kitna and found ample running room -- as it turned out, too much.

Say what you will about Roy Williams. But he mans up when it comes time to answer his critics and answer to the public.
I hope the Cowboys keep him - for much less, of course.

Let's not forgive the D that gave up 90 yards and a TD in 2 minutes. You need to step up as a team.

i say we keep him if for no other reason that we have no one else to play #3 Wr. Who would replace him? Holley? Hurd? No thanks.

Good for Roy but I'm not putting the whole game on him. It's not like it's his fault that the D allowed Brees to march 89 yards in like barely over a minute.
I hated that he fumbled, it angered me at the time to no end cause I just knew we had the game at that point, if he gets down.
But the defense needed to step up there, as it had been for over two quarters at that point, and stopped the Saints from going 89 yards for the win.

Thankfully our fans don't coach our team.

"You go off on Thanksgiving, all of a sudden now you're a player," Williams said. "Why? Because everybody's watching. Everybody's watching this game. So if you show out on Thanksgiving, all of a sudden you're an All-Pro player. It's a great tradition to be a part of, and I wouldn't have it any other way."

89 freaking yards - are you kidding me? The defense was rested and the offense had been carrying the team in the second half.
Yeah... blame Roy Williams.

Agreed. The play where Newman allowed the WR to get behind him really ticked me off. We could afford to bend a little because The Saints didn't need a FG. They had to have a TD, so you can't let a WR behind you. Garrett's play calling also sucked in the last drive. And lets not forget that lots of other stuff throughout the game affected the outcome. As bad as the fuble was it wasn't the only play in the game that determined the outcome.
