Clarett a flop at combine
Running back was missing key element in 40-yard dash - speed

INDIANAPOLIS – Maurice Clarett's mea culpa tour came to a crashing halt Saturday at the NFL scouting combine.
DARRON CUMMINGS/AP
Maurice Clarett crosses the tape during the 40-yard dash, but with a time in the high 4.7s, he didn't get there fast enough. Working out in front of teams for the first time in a year, the former Ohio State running back was clocked between the high 4.7-second to the low 4.8-second range in the 40-yard dash. California running back J.J. Arrington had the fastest official time at 4.46 seconds.
Making matters worse for Clarett was that he did not complete the workout drills after running the 40. He said Thursday he hoped to have a good enough workout in Indianapolis, so he would not have to have a personal workout later.
It's decision time: Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the team has not contacted recently released cornerback Ty Law, who played for coach Bill Parcells in New England.
Jones called Wednesday a "decision time," for the future of linebacker Dexter Coakley, who is due a $502,000 roster bonus, but Jones said it's possible the Cowboys could pay Coakley and then rework a deal later.
Redskins' Gibbs not happy: While he attempted to deflect talk surrounding a possible trade of wide receiver Laveranues Coles, Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said he was not too happy to see the Cowboys sign quarterback Drew Bledsoe.
"I'd say Dallas made a decision there, and most of us in the division are not looking forward to it," Gibbs said.

Archer is an idoit. This guy should be fired.
You have Jerry right there and just ask if he has contacted Law's agent. Jerry says no, and that is it.
How about a couple follow up ?'s there Archer.
Well will you contact his Agent?
Do you have any interest?
Has Parcells talked with Law?

Reading between the lines, what Gibbs really meant is as follows:
"Those suckers in Dallas...ha, ha, ha!! We're going to pin our ears back for 2 games a year and continuously sack the Statue of Liberty that is Drew Bledsoe."

Archer doesn't have the testicular fortitute to ask those questions. Besides, this is nothing more than a smokescreen.
What is Jerry going to tell him? Is he going to say, "Yes, we've already talked to Law." This will only lead to other teams throwing their names into the derby to purposely drive the price up.
Law is as good as signed IMO, unless Jerry has his eyes on another FA corner.

That was my point. Is JJ going to come out and say that they actually talked? NO.
This would only drive up the price.

If we can't find a way to move him by Wednesday and avoid a half mil bonus, when would we? Now is the time. Make a decsion. We knew this day was coming.

Then we are in trouble cuz Bledsoe is a 33 year old version of Hutch. Only dif is Hutch was more athletic and could run.

1) You are working off a casual reporter stmt, assuming that was true. JJ is a salesman and does deals, would he be sleight of hand? Always has been.
I have heard from a few sources, and reputable that Cowboys and Law have talked. Do you really believe no contact at all? naive
They are likely in serious contract negotiations as we speak. Medical issues the ro ..... ;)

Yeah, I think back to those memories of Hutch as a Cowboy running and scrambling for all those extra yards and TDs while using his superior athleticism to brush away would be tacklers with ease.

Compared to Bledsoe Hutch is a tremendous athlete !! By mid-next season we'll all be calling him "sack-soe!"

The other difference is that Bledsoe can get rid of the ball and doesn't have to have time for a baseball pitchers windup before throwing. Not that you want to hear anything positive about Bledsoe but he is a very good quarterback and with protection at least equal to what we gave the other Statue of Liberty (Vinny Testaverde) last year he will kill the opposition. And if they do pin their ears back and come after him Julius Jones will have a field day.

An opinion is saying, "I think we are talking to Law, but I bet his agents are holding things up."
Nors says, "We have been talking to Law, I got it from several sources, reliable, it's happening, the Postons...or was it medical issues?...are holding things up."

I don't have any "sources", but I also think they've talked too, IMO. I also agree with you (imagine that! :) ) that medical issues are slowing things down.
But I also think that $ is an issue. The Postons think Law is worth more up front money than he really is, thus don't be shocked to see them go to other suitors to strengthen their position. If some other team gets stupid (i.e. Cleveland) and is willing to overpay Law with a huge signing bonus, Dallas is out.
