Jay (Great Mills, MD): Hi Gary! Thanks for taking my question. What's your take on the Laveraneous Coles situation? Will a trade get worked out before Wednesday with either the Jests or another team, or will the Skins have to keep him and deal with an unhappy camper?
http://espn.starwave.com/i/sn2.gif Gary Horton: (11:17 AM ET ) I think that Coles will eventually be traded, but it's important for Washington to get fair value for him. The problem you have with situations like this is that other teams want to steal him b/c they know he is on the market and they don't want to pay market value. It becomes a game of 'chicken' for the Skins. This thing could drag out a little bit if Wash doesn't feel like they are getting the right offer. The Coles for Santana Moss trade really surprises me from the Jets standpoint IF it happens b/c they are trading one good receiver for another. I just don't see the advantage gained. To me, moving someone like DE John Abraham would make more sense. But, Coles, Moss and McCareins is pretty impressive. So, I think the deal will get done, it just may take a little time.
Steve (Columbus): Will New England look to take a DB high in the draft in an attempt to keep Branch only on O in '05? Or maybe the reverse? Take a WR and move Branch to D full-time?

First of all, in all liklihood, they will move around and maybe down to acquire additional picks -- a huge strength of theirs over the years. The advantage of having a Super Bowl team is that you don't have a lot of glaring holes, although they certainly do have needs. I think they will do what they usually do and pick the best player on their board and not necessarily draft by need. Although they will fill their needs by the end of those two days. They are very creative and draft day and nobody but Bill Bellichick and Bill Pioli will know how they'll do it!
Jay (Newport News VA): Does Clarett's pedestrian 40 drop him out of the draft completely, or will someone take a chance on him in the late rounds?
http://espn.starwave.com/i/sn2.gif Gary Horton: (11:22 AM ET ) There is no way he'll go undrafted, but, unless he runs a significantly better time in his individual workout -- which is possible -- he's probably pushed himself out of the first day. This is such a shame b/c all indications were that he was in great shape. He was doing very well in the interview process, too, but this is still a height, weight and speed league. IF you can't run, you're value is significanly diminished. My guess is, if his numbers stay about the same, he'll go in the fourth round on Saturday night of the draft as teams re-stack their board and somebody will take a chance on him.
Matt (Newburgh, NY): I have no idea what the Cowboys are going to do this offseason. I think the Bledsoe move will help, but what are they targeting with the two first rounders they have? What about Ty Law? They need another corner. And I hear talk about a switch to a 3-4 defense. Please help!

Look for them to really upgrade the perimeter of their defense -- pash rushing OLB, definitely a cover-corner, which is a huge need, and possibly a DE. This becomes a very interesting offseason for Dallas, Parcells wants to rebuild quickly, the best way to do that is with veterans. BUT, I don't know they will make a huge splash in FA, for some reason they are very catious right now and even though Jerry Jones is a great competitor, they don't take a lot of chances.
