The NFLPA meeting on Friday, included having Troy Vincent speak to the 334 prospects in attendance for the Combine. He went into detail about how perspective NFL rookies should try their best not to go into depth in terms of spending money, buying expensive cars or getting abundant lines of credit. When he solicited answers from the room, Michigan wide receiver BRAYLON EDWARDS said that he had purchased a Bentley, which is valued at $250,000 dollars, which drew a harsh and honest response from Vincent who pointed out how easy it is for young players to fall into the pitfalls of how they handle their off-the-field priorities.

Maybe he thinks he can live in it... I would've been ok with a crib for his mom or something, but dang, a Bentley?
Antowain Smith bought a Mercedes before he was drafted. And a couple of other guys on that same UH squad bought Navigators and Expeditions around that same time. Unfortunately only a couple of those guys even made it out of training camp. Edwards knows he's gonna get drafted high, but you don't buy a Bentley straight out the box like you've been in the league 10 years or something.

Maybe he had a nice nest egg saved up from his time at Michigan.

One of the guys on our board of directors drives a Bentley. I don't quite get the obsession with them, not worth $250K IMHO. Those cars hold their value well, at least.
I remember that Tra Thomas bought a Hummer H1, fully loaded when he was drafted by the Eagles. I think those were running $150K at the time.
Edwards will probably see a $2mil or $3mil signing bonus. Most of these guys drafted in the first round, if they get decent financial advice and live a modest lifestyle, they shouldn't ever have to work again. But if you buy a Bentley and a $2mil dollar house, you really are asking for trouble.

I hope his agent is better than that.

Personally, I don't mind going into depth, but I always stay out of DEBT by avoiding making partial payments.
