View Full Version : How do you think the First 10 Picks play out?

How I think it'll play out, assuming no trades and current order of course:

1 Carolina (2-12) - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Obvious pick for the Panthers, you can only spend this pick on a franchise QB.

2 Denver (3-11) - Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
I think Bowers is the best DL prospect personally in the draft, not sure why so many people don't talk about him in the Top 5. If you think Fairley is disruptive, watch Bowers.

3 Cincinnati (3-11) - Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
Bengals are forced into taking Peterson despite having two CB's they are happy with because the player they wanted (Bowers) is off the board.

4 Arizona (4-10) - Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
Cards take a QB because they have to, not necessarily because he is a Top 5 type player.

5 Detroit (4-10) - Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Detroit lands their feature CB. I'd look for them to consider moving this pick in the draft as I feel prince can be had 2 or 3 picks later.

6 Buffalo (4-10) - Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Buffalo needs defensive, pass-rushing help and Merriman was a failure. They bite on Quinn and roll with Fitzpatrick at QB.

7 San Francisco (5-9) - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
First surprise of the draft, Cam blows up the championship game and then blows up the combine, pushes his stock way up and the 49ers get a new face for their franchise.

8 Dallas (5-9) - Nick Fairley, DE/DT, Auburn
We end up getting the player we wanted all along, other than a brief dream of Peterson slipping.

9 Washington (5-9) - A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
You know how the Redskins do it. They see Cowboys have success with Dez and they step right in line and try to draft a game changer WR. With Moss getting old and all the WR's they drafted a few years ago showing not a heck of a lot, it makes sense plus the Top 3 QB's are off the board.

10 Houston (5-9) - Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State
Paea fits their defense and is one of the strongest players in the nation, he does very well at the combine and lands himself a Top 10 selection. Personally, I love Paea, if we ran a 4-3, he'd be the guy I'd want for us.

As I've said, two DB's haven't been taken in the Top 5 since 1997, so I don't think it's all that likely it happens this year but if it does, it only helps us by pushing Fairley down.

Carolina Panthers- Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Despit having Clausen, I think there's little chance a new coaching staff passes on Luck.
Denver Broncos- Nick Fairley, DL, Auburn
Weather they stay in a 3-4 or switch to a 4-3, this team needs a difference maker upfront.
Cincinnati Bengals- DaQuan Bowers, DE, Clemson
The likely want Fairley, but I think they'll settle on Bowers instead of Peterson.
Arizona Cardinals- Ryan Mallet, QB, Arkansas
No brainer pick here, assuming he comes out and works out well.
Detroit Lions- Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
Matt Milen will try to convince them to take AJ Green, but he'll like be arrested for tresspassing in the Lions war room
Buffalo Bills-AJ Green, WR, Georgia
After missing on the top 2 QBs, they'll go BPA and target either Newton, Locker or Delvin in a trade up to bottom of the first (May decide to trade down).
San Francisco 49ers- Prince Akumara, CB, Nebraska
May opt for a pass rusher instead, but can't go wrong with this pick
Washington Redskins- Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
The plan should be to have a line in place so whatever QB they add in round 2, is protected, but they may opt for Julio Jones instead
Dallas Cowboys- Gonna stop here, I'd definately trade down here because no player of value here, fits a need.

Carolina Panthers, AJ Green - I have a feeling whoever the panthers end up getting as their new coach will find something to like with Clausen, and get the potential star WR instead of the potential franchise QB.

Denver Broncos, Nick Fairley - The broncos desperately need a defense/pass rush. Only say yes to Tebow at QB.

Cincinatti Bengals, Andrew Luck - Time for Lewis and Palmer to go, bringing in Luck and a new era for bengals football. Ah screw it, it's the bungles Da'quan Bowers it is!

Arizona Cardinals, Andrew Luck - Wow, what a steal! Back to being a contender again.

Detroit Lions, Prince Amukamara - I think they'll find that he fits their team a little better than Peterson, isn't Pat more of a safety type anyway?

Buffalo Bills, Marcell Dareus - Ok, whatever.

San Francisco 49ers, Ryan Mallet - We finally say good bye to Alex Smiff!

Washington Redskins, Cam Newton - Time for a new era.

Houston Texans, Robert Quinn - more defense!

Dallas Cowboys, Patrick Peterson - Yay, Patrick Peterson!

Seriously doubt Fairley lasts till number 8. Also Washington will draft Newton, supposedly Danny has a liking for him.

I doubt it as well but have outlined a scenario where he does. I have Cam going before Washington's pick as well.

However, I kind of think Cam is who Shanahan was talking about when he said "young mcnabb".

I think Cincy takes Mallet there.

For everyone that wants Spencer replaced, I'd be interested to see just how often he blitzes. I'd be willing to bet it's far less than most other LOLB. Drafting Quinn will likely lead to many posters being upset in a few years
