What do you have up to bat for your 2011 New Year's Resolutions?

I got a head start on mine and tore back into the Insanity workout DVD's. I'm determined to get rid of the mass that settled around the midsection during the fall semester when I didn't have time to work out.

Second, I want to get at least halfway done with my novel by December, or at the very least complete two chapters per month including a second pass edit.

Third, find a new job.

Fourth, find the next ex-Ms. SaltwaterServr.

Fifth, buy a little pop-up camper, refit it, and get Dad down to Padre Island National Seashore for some shark fishin'.

Quit smoking and learn how to fish, so I can take my two baby boys fishing when they get older.

1. Gain 20 Lbs (preferably muscle)
2. Buy our first place (hopefully in January)
3. Get a new job

1. Continue to be good looking.
2. Finally start my T-Shirt Company with my Bro, which will show just as much poor taste as my postings on this Zone.

The same one I always make. Try not to cuss as much. My nieces and nephews kept saying last week, "Auntie, you cuss alot."

My response: "I'll cuss you out, too, you keep blanking w/me." lmao

To cook in more and eat less fast food. :)

To cook in more and eat less fast food. :)
That was the one resolution I made years ago that I stuck with. The problem is I don't necessarily cook healthier, but I do eat at home.

Be more patient, get a handle on my temper.

Travel outside of the country and not to a desert in the middle east.

Get at least one of the 2 books I am working on published, preferably the Cowboys one.

Ditching soda.

Might make exceptions if it comes with alcohol but other than that, I'm done drinking the stuff.

I quit drinking it for a long time a while back but it seems I always drink it when I go home for the holidays.

Get outside a little more. Try to be more active.

I actually got a head start on my resolution. Up to 2.5 to 3 packs a day, smoking for 30 years, today is Day 91 of Cold Turkey stopping :)

That's impressive. Congratulations.

I've been trying to start smoking for years. Never could get the hang of it.

Super!!! That's how I quit a number of years back. I just put 'em down one day and didn't start again. It does get easier.

Excellent. I was a pack a day smoker for over 15 years. My cold turkey day was Oct. 5th 2000. I've done a lot of stuff in my life and I easily rank quitting smoking as the best thing I've ever done.

My resolutions.

Become a better guitarist (though I never want to be an actual musician)
Become a better Python programmer (though I have no intent on doing it for a living)
Stir up as much trouble here on CZ as I can without getting ban.

Im cleaning my eating up.

I've gone 2 years with bad dieting. I used to weigh 310 lbs and I got all the way down to 235...

Well im starting to creep back up in the 270's and it's just not for me.

Food isn't worth it and every meal doesn't need to be treated like my last.

Whats sad is I work out 4 days a week and still managed to put on 35 lb's in 2 years.

Well thats over starting yesterday.

As your new years resolution, you need to do like this woman I saw at the grocery store. Her entire grocery cart was filled with like thirty boxes of frozen broccoli. Thats it. Nothing else. :laugh2:

What the hell is wrong with these people. How can they eat like that. I understand wanting to be skinny and such, but to treat yourself like that is just plain wrong.

Some people eat like that and not for diet reasons.

My wife goes on crazy binges where she might just eat mainly yogurt for months.
Another time it might be cereal.
There might be an occasional meal during these times but she gets these spells where she just eats mainly one type of thing for a period of time.

I don't know how she does it, I just could not eat the same thing for a meal (not counting breakfast) over and over like that.

Heck I had to do various forms of chicken for a week in the army once and did not eat any form of chicken for about a year after that.

But I know the wife would go and buy like all of a specific type of yogurt on the shelf at the store.

Crazy stuff.

Spend more time with my mom, and have dinner with her at least once every 2 weeks.

Get roller blades/skates, and then "walk" my dog minimum 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes of intense roller blading/skating.

Don't get tempted to feed my dog treats or table scraps no matter what kind of manipulative strategies he employs. He needs to lose 15 lbs

1. I've been single for a couple years now. Time to look for another ball and chain.

2. Break out the P90X DVD's. Offseason is the time to do it.

3. Continue my career in the NFL (not a player, obviously).

Dude I love broccoli. I'm not just trolling you either, lol...there have been nights where I just couldn't decide on dinner, so I'd pop in a bag of steamfresh broccoli in the microwave and chow down with a little salt and black pepper sprinkled, nothing else.

I also have a weird love of peas. But only the Le Seur Very Young Sweet Peas in the silver can with red writing.

A couple of years ago, I had gotten up to 320 pounds or so. A few months ago, I had gotten down to 220. Now, I'm back up to 230. I need to drop another 30 pounds or so and actually exercise. That's the plan at least.

I still don't drink soda, but that's about the only thing I haven't gotten back into the habit of consuming. :(

I could stomach broccoli. My downfall all my life has been bitter melons. My parents love that stuff, and they'd make a pot of it stuffed with ground pork.

maybe a daft question but have you tried it steamed? couple of florets steamed with chili flakes and a knob of butter melting over it is a bonus in any meal

Occasionally my wife will make a bunch of broccoli and cauliflower. I really don't care for it. I can eat it, but just don't really care for it.

However the thing is, that stuff stinks when it cooks or maybe it is just me.

I tell her it smells like moldy dirt or something that collects under your lawnmower. :laugh2:
