So they should say "in that league"?
No.. but.
It may even be proper English, not sure. It just sounds annoying. A picture of Brooking pops into my head each time a forum poster says it.
Example:
You can't tackle like that in the NFL.
You can't tackle like that as a pro football player.
You can't tackle like that in this league.
It sounds like something a player would say.

It's not technically a topic of football. The topic is things that irritate you and as part of that I posted some things that are irritating that are said on the forum.
Fail!

If you have to get by on a technicality, then you have already lost.

Well it doesn't have to be right or wrong to annoy me. Even if it's right, it annoys me. There is no justification needed there.
Like I said a picture of Brooking pops into my head whenever I read it.

It sounds like something we read here everyday from armchair fans who think they know it all. I'm guilty of it myself most of us are.

I'm trying to recall if If I've ever said it. I haven't found a post yet but I wouldn't be surprised, as much as I've heard it.

"In this league" can be used for making observations no need to actually be in the league to use it.
