You've seen this scene before -- every Christmas.

An 8-year-old Oklahoma boy got his tongue stuck on a frozen stop sign pole after his brother dared him to lick it.

"The first thing that come to my mind was the movie 'A Christmas Story,'" responding Woodward firefighter Shane Pringry said, according to News Channel 4 in Oklahoma City.

The boy was standing on his tiptoes when rescue crews arrived on the scene, near Woodward Middle School. He was trying to wiggle his tongue free.

I'm betting there is a story like this each winter.

No brainer maybe, but in A Christmas Story, they accomplished that effect by drilling a small hole in the pole and attaching a vacuum pump behind it.

The more you know!

Who hasn't done that as a child? If you wait long enough and don't panic, your breath will heat the metal and you can free yourself.

I haven't, though I've had a piece of ice stick to my tongue straight out of the freezer.

I just had a friend post their photos from their Xmas trip to some ski resort. Their boy did it to the chairlift on a dare by his sister. He yanked it off. The photo of the tongue the next day was uuuuuuuuuugly.
