American Idol season 10

the show comes back on wednesday. steven tyler & jennifer lopez join randy jackson at the judges table. no simon cowell. he's working on the x-factor. there are many changes that are going to happen on the show. there is also the prediction that a girl will win this season.

as for me, i was planning on not watching this upcoming season, but because of steven tyler & j-lo, i'm now curious & am going to watch. i intend to keep an open mind about this & not get attached to certain contestant.

Simple show to me, I watch the funny try outs, and never vote...I am amazed at the number of votes if nothing else. But I think America is batting .500 or less at this point.

The judges have never had very good taste IMO, and I stopped watching years ago as it became kind of a joke. The voting is done backwards from how it should be done. It's not at all accurate as it is now.

It started a hard downhill turn with Kara. I had a hard time stomaching last season and have no interest in this one.

I will probably do my yearly thing of watching the try out portions of the show just so see those pretending to be really bad and those that are really bad.

But even that will probably suck without simon ripping on them.

They should just be happy that they have had a long run. I mean it has had huge ratings for some time now, I would imagine even if this season is the last, it will still get enough viewers to justify putting it out there.

But just be done with it IMO.

Meh what do I care...like I said I just like the first few weeks of it...the rest is just pre packaged teeny bopper stuff for the most part anyway, which does not interest me at all.

I don't watch it. It's way too predictable to me. I pretty much predicted last year Mike being the one who would get a 2nd chance, it was so obvious.

These kinds of shows and other reality TV type shows are incredibly boring and never hold my attention. I have my own version of reality to deal with without having to watch someone else live theirs.

There are plenty of lists on the web of musicians that make a very good living through Youtube, and it's not just musicians.

You don't need 3 people drinking Coke behind a desk to make you a star these days. Heck, a lot of the time it wasn't even the person that won the show that went on to be the most successful from their season.

I have not watched the last couple seasons. It seemed all that was getting pushed through was some form of Disney Channel cookie cutter artist (if thats what you can call them). I decided to watch this season strictly because of Steven Tyler. So far he has not disappointed :bow:

Hard to get across what I mean with simon...maybe not passion just for the money, maybe more the business side as a whole instead of just the music.

Now...still does not mean I will probably watch much beyond the first interviews as normally i just don't care for the type of music that Idol tends to try to push or the audience it caters to. But I got say Steven is doing a great job for the show IMO.

That I would buy more than the guy taking advantage of his disabled fiancee for votes.

Though, I don't think this story is exploited more than any other sob story or back story the producers choose to highlight. To use as an example, the kid who says he was bullied growing up. His story got just as much air time as this Medina kid.

I just don't think it's fair for people to paint sob stories as being exploited by the contestants when it seems more likely it's the producers pushing the story for ratings and interest purposes.

Though, I can see how some fans of the show are leery after the Gokey season.

I watched for the first time last night. I think the new judges are going to be just fine. I like three judges better than four and I am glad Paula and Ellen in particular are gone. I've seen a few clips this season but I did not want to watch the auditions without Simon's acerbic wit. That was half the fun of those shows.

It seems Steven Tyler's sense of humor is going to more than make up for Simon's departure and may save the show for a few seasons.

I rarely like group night. Too much drama and I really despise the attempts at choreography. It is a singing competition and I want to hear voices, not see how how they can dance in sync. I have already singled out the two drama queens of this show so far are the girl who wanted to quit and the guy with the white glasses. Both can sing, but both are over the top dramatic. Thankfully nowhere near the chick from Puerto Rico who drove me nuts.

No singer stood out to me and I still haven't seen a girl who is from here in Tucson, Brittany Mazur. There is a rumor running rampant here that she made the top 40, but she is not talking and no one knows for sure.

One thing I remain convinced of, the kids who move on to country music will be relevant longer than the kids who try other genres.

I'm blown away Chris Medina got sent home. I really liked him throughout the whole process and really liked his final performance. He just seems like someone that would just keep getting better.

Seems to me and my girl that the guy talent is heads and shoulders above the girls. Outside of Lauren there aren't any really stand out girls, while the guys have James Durbin, Casey, Clint, that black dude with the crazy range whose name is slipping me right now and probably a few others.

Should be a fun season.

I think Jacob is by far the best singer of the guys.

I think thia has a great voice but has zero star power. She just seems to young and innocent/shy. She doesn't seem as into it as the others. Just my opinion. If you watch the other young girl perform and then see thia it is night and day.

Haley Reinhardt is a phenomenal talent. Her and Alaina. Scotty will be a star as well. Yes they are all country but still.

James is unreal and will have a great career. I like Casey as well but I'm not in the "Casey is the greatest thing in the world" camp.

If I had to pick the winner from this bunch just based on pure vocal ability and the sound and tonality of their voices, I think it would be Haley.

There is so much talent this season. I seriously like almost all of them. I didn't start off liking James' screeching very much but now that he is trying to show more control I find him more enjoyable.

I wish the girls would stay away from the boring overdone power ballads. Because I really like Pia and Thia but I want them to be more interesting.

But the guys sings with passion. I like that.

Paul is strange and weird and has a unique voice. I'm really starting to dig it.

I saw that she is VERY good, but from my impressions, that she is very one-dimensional (again, this was my first episode) and can only belt ballads (ala David Archuleta).

Jacob has a great voice but won't win b/c he is a gospel type of singer.
Scotty is really good but won't win b/c he is a country singer.
Pia is beautiful and has a great voice, and could have a Celine Dion type of career.
