So far I have had snow falls of 17", 8", 15", 4", and now it appears we will get 6"-10" more inches tonight

I freaking hate snow with a passion.

This weekend they said we were going to get around a foot this week. Well then they stepped away from that but would not say how much we would get.

Right now it started out as rain, then mixed with snow, now a real heavy wet snow out there that is starting to make the roads slushy. Uggh.

Hate it.

But we have not been hit anywhere as bad as you guys this year. We keep getting just the edges of the storms.

I'm digging it. They close the office when it snows and last time the electricity (at work) was knocked out for the day.

It's school days all over again with these snow days.

Jst a light dusting here in DC. Ice is our main concern right now.

I have the ability to telecommute. Of course, when I do that I get to sleep in till about 7:30am instead of getting up at 5:30am. It's damn near a day off for me! (if I don't go in while it's dumping snow that is)

They said it is supposed to start tonight, but it is snowing now and at times quite heavy.

Yeah the timing can be a problem. It's started too late here to call anything off, but if it keeps up it might mean early leave and hopefully a deluge to keep me home tomorrow. :)

Hell I could work from home every day, I honestly don't know why I have to show up here to do what I can do at home.

Federal Government here in DC just issued a 2-hour go home early notice, so I'm liking it :)

We got some snow yesterday. There isn't a loaf of breads, eggs or gallon of milk to be found. :laugh2:

A lot of snow means another day off for me here in Red Bank, NJ. I get a 4-day weekend if work is called off tomorrow:) Let it snow.

The snow from right after Christmas still hasn't melted yet here.

Gotta admit, the snow is pretty nice to look at. Don't mind shovelling it. However, don't care to drive in the stuff.

That kills me. People act like the apocalypse is upon us with every snow storm and they clean out the stores.

Not a cloud in the sky, 70 degrees, and no wind.

I hear you, and laugh. ;):D

No kidding and it's not like the stuff stays around here for more than a day or two. :laugh2:

Next time you get a impending storm announced and you know people will be going crazy buying milk and bread. Do yourself a favor and go to the story.

Then go to where the lunch meat or sandwich spread section is. You will see a normal amount of stock in those areas. Next go to the cereal section...again you will see the normal amount of stock.

It baffles me. Are they going to just use the bread as toast? Are they just going to use it as a side thing with a dinner. One would think they would get it in case the power was off and they could make some sandwiches to hold over some.

Same with milk. What are you making with milk that you have to have it as an emergency item. Sure some things you cook use milk, some may want it just for their coffee...but again if the power is going to be out I would think milk and cereal would do for a breakfast.

And if you do not have power, but have gas to cook with...why so worried about the milk and bread at this specific time.

It is not like they go bad after a few days and normally after a storm hits, you can get back to the stores by a few days to a week.

Always baffled me.

I know if we are going to get a big storm and I am worried about not having power or being able to cook something...I would buy some bread and/or milk but I darn sure would be buying some other things that would go with it since I would not be able to be cooking or baking some food.

Edit...

I remember sometime last year the wife wanted to go to the store because we were to get a big storm.

We had a bunch of items that we could eat without having to worry about cooking them, just in case the power went out.

I saw one woman who was hoarding a bunch of bread in her cart...must have been somewhere between 5-10 loaves of bread. I looked at her and said...Lunch meat is over there. She looked at me like she had no clue.
What in the world...was she just going to eat bread the whole time? lol

Got the e-mail saying go home. They cancelled work and told everyone to go home at 1:00 pm:D Let it snow, baby. 8-12 inches predicted tonight. If so, no work tomorrow either.:)

Although, I really like my job and don't mind going to work. And I live only 2 miles from where I work. I did bring some paperwork home to study just in case they close the base.

Just an update. They where wrong. We ended up with 17" of snow. It wasn't light and fluffy snow either. It was dense and very heavy. It usually takes me about 1 to 1 1/2 hours to shovel my entire driveway and the walkway to my front door. I only did the drive way and it took almost 3 hours. :/

They are saying more snow next Tuesday too.

66 here yesterday, 72 forecast for today which would break our record high of 69. Very unusual warmth for Kansas in January. Sunday it goes to crap with snow forecasted for Monday and Tuesday.

Cracked my shovel in half yesterday morning. I'd better hit Home Depot before next Tuesday I guess...

I don't have a place to dump the snow I'm shoveling. My drive way is a 5 foot canyon of snow right now. In the middle of the yard where it is only snow fall, it's almost 3 feet deep. The base of the driveway where the plows come through, the mounds of snow are over 7 feet tall. :bang2:

Went out and dusted off my tiller so I can prepare the garden area for Mama Sue to do her thing, charging up the lawn mower battery.
The Bluebonnets are all ready coming up.
What we need is rain,my tanks are so down I can see the fish getting sunburned.
