QUESTION: Do you think Blaine Gabbert will be the first quarterback selected in April’s NFL draft? If not, who might you rank above him at the position?
JIM THOMAS
The only potential challenger is Washington’s Jake Locker. Locker is already considered by many to be No. 2 in the draft pool at quarterback this year behind Gabbert. There are non-football issues that might hurt Auburn’s Cam Newton and Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett. Locker, meanwhile, seems to be doing everything possible to enhance his draft status, such as attending the Senior Bowl this week in Mobile, Ala.
Note, again this might push a top player down to us. I keep hearing possibly Panthers, Buffalo, 49ers, Redskins, (possibly Arizona too), and Vikings want a QB.
