9 DE-DT Marcell Dareus Alabama Jr. 6-4 306 Cornerback makes the top of the need list in Dallas, but the two top 10 prospects are already gone. Dareus would offer great value at No. 9, and he's a proven talent who thrived in Nick Saban's 3-4 defense at Alabama. He'd likely play at end in the NFL, and his knack for penetrating and making things happen in the backfield would no doubt help the Cowboys' pass defense by increasing the pass pressure up front.

Not oppsed to keeping Spears but what about the other DE spot?
I'm not saying Dallas should draft him just looking at our options. At this stage I'm still inclinded to think trading our 1st and moving down in the 1st rd to get OL and the extra pick would be the better move.

I'd rather have Cam Jordan.

He had better eat a few donuts first because at only 285lbs, he won't be playing DE for the Cowboys.

Or, we get a massive NT in FA, move Rat to one DE spot (Igor's), re-sign Bowen, and draft C Jordan at 9, or move down a few spots and grab a guy like JJ Watt.

Why not? I mean if Patrick Peterson can play CB at 220lbs, why can't Dareus play CB at 306lbs? :muttley:

I'd stake my bet that a 21-year old 6'4" 287 lb kid can add 12-15 lbs.

Is Dareus that much better than Bowen?
As compared to how much better Peterson is than Newman, Quinn is to Spencer, Carimi is to Colombo

Shaun Ellis plays 3-4 DE in Rex's scheme (which is basically the same scheme Rob wants to run) and he weighs in at 6'5", 290.

And he is a FA. One who is low on their priority list

This will be like his 12th season, and since you typically have to over pay to pry a free agent from a team, I'd pass.

I don't see it. Ryan's game is about pressure. If we don't take a CB at 9, then I think it's an OLB. Otherwise, I think we'll probably trade down and grab an OL. I don't really see an Offensive player there that rates the 9 pick. JMO

I'll take Marcus Spears and draft Robert Quinn or Von Miller.
