Vet QBs market to heat up …
http://www.gbnreport.com/
Several sources are reporting that Philadelphia will place a franchise tag on QB early next month to ensure that he’ll be around in 2011. And with Vick locked up for at least the next year, the Eagles are then expected to shop back-up QB Kevin Kolb once the league reaches an accord on a new CBA and trading is allowed. Meanwhile, Tennessee G.M. Mike Reinfeldt said the Titans are still planning to shop QB Vince Young despite the departure of head coach Jeff Fisher who abruptly parted ways with the franchise last week. The Titans are hoping a new CBA is agreed on sooner rather than later as they’d like to trade before he’s due a $4.25M roster bonus early in the coming NFL calendar year, which usually begins in March. In fact, the trade mart could have a number of solid veteran QBs as Donovan McNabb of Washington, Cincinnati’s Carson Palmer, Kyle Orton of Denver, San Francisco's Alex Smith, and emerging Matt Flynn of Green Bay could be available for trade. All that means teams with QB needs and high picks at the 2011 draft won’t have to force a pick, although acquiring a veterans will be complicated by the fact that no trades or related personnel moves can be made until a new CBA is in place. If it takes a long time to reach a CBA agreement, teams could have limited windows to make transactions before the season, and new QBs would have limited time to adjust to a new system.
