Hard to believe anyone would believe that crap.

Why not? Some of these guys are terrible with their money and make horrible decisions. Many have a great opportunity to be set for life, but too many waste those chances.

Well gee, about 50% of everybody ends up divorced...throw a few more caveats in there, and it's not hard to get it up another 10%, especially with the money involved.

He must have meant bankrupt, divorced, or homeless.

Half of marraiges end up in divorce, now you just need 10% to go bankrput to hit the number. And thats not hard to believe if you count the scrubs who make the minimum for a year or two.

Sounds like the NFLPA as a Union is failing to educate their dues paying members to me.

is it just me or is the Union looking dumber and dumber by the day?

Well, if you have a bad attorney, you might be bankrupt and homeless once the divorce is finalized.

First off, I hate to see anyone bankrupt or homeless and don't think anyone deserves it...

That said I don't find it sad if you can't find away to keep some of the insane amounts of money you make (evan at league minimum).

so do you have to make a roster to be a union member or does this include anyone in training camp?

IIRC, one of the reasons for this is that the NFL recommended a particular financial manager to the players who was later found to be a crook who spent all of their money. Tons of players went to this guy because he was recommended by the NFL. So that would skew the bankruptcy a bit.

I find this hard to believe. Maybe for the scrubs who play for a year or two and make the minimum. Not for the average-pro bowlers who have 10-15 year careers and make millions upon millions.

I guess the number of scrubs really brings up the average.

Also, I think they meant bankrupt, divorced OR homeless.

So I guess they want more money to squander, spend on hookers and give their baby mama after they divorce them because of the hookers? I know families who have lived on less than 20,000 a year, scraping by. Am I supposed to feel sorry for these rich punks who blow it?
