I'll tell you guys what, I've always had a negative perception of Steelers fans. So yesterday when me in my Miles Austin jersey and some buddies (two of which were Packers fans sporting Driver/Rodgers jerseys) decided to go to Oscar's, a local Steelers bar here in Myrtle Beach, I expected to hear the stupidest things and have the most awkward day of my life. Well I'm pleasantly surprised to say that I was wrong.

My buddy's a die hard Packer's fan so he wanted to get there at noon knowing the place would pile up and the game didn't start til 6. Me being the good friend I am, decided to go there and chill with him so he didn't have to wait all day by himself. Granted, I had to hear garbage like "Thanks for building the stadium for us to play in" and stuff about the "house that Jerry built," but it was all in good fun, and to be honest, when you walk into a Pittsburgh Steelers bar the day of the super bowl in a Cowboys jersey, you can only expect it.

But I want to point out that everybody was very friendly, very classy, even though we were probably 1 out of maybe 3 groups cheering for the Packers. After the game numerous people came up to shake my friends' hands and congratulate them and a few people told me I was a classy fan and that it was a good game. Obviously they were all upset that they just lost in the super bowl, but very few people were bitter about it and most were very respectful and classy in defeat.

I don't know what everyone's experience has been with Steelers fans, but I wanted to bring this up, considering it's probably a little out of the norm and there were TONS of people there cheering on the Steelers, not just a few. Anyways, I let them know I was very happy that they didn't win #7 in our house. Good job Pack, had a great time watching the super bowl. Maybe next year we'll be in it. :)

Yeah, if you are in a restaurant in Philly; don't let them know you are a Cowboys fan until AFTER your food has been served.

Steeler fans sulk silently away like scolded puppies when they lose, .. it's when they win that they are obnoxious.

Seriously, here at work, when they lose a game during the season, Monday morning it's like the NFL has not been invented yet.

Today is the morning after the Super Bowl, and I have been surrounded by Steeler fans for over an hour and a half, and not one word has been mentioned about the game. Nothing.

Another Dallas fan IM'ed me and we had a chuckle, a Raiders fan came by my cube wiping his eyes mockingly as if he had been crying. :laugh2:

But not a single word from Steeler fans.

I am a CCU alum and had a buddy that is a Steelers fan. We typically went to Murphy's, but the first time we went to watch games together, it was at Oscar's. That place was insane. Like, we showed up an hour early and got the last table, a very small table for the 3 of us. The place was packed. And like crazy in that Jerome Bettis would get a 4 yard run on 1st down and they would go nuts and the bartender would start ringing the bell like they just scored on an 80 yard bomb.

Anyway, we went there for the Steelers vs. Cowboys, I believe opening week in '97. Like I said, the place was insane.

And the Cowboys wound up demolishing the Steelers, something like 37-7.

There were only 2 Cowboys fans in the place, myself and some other guy that I never met, but was at the table right next to us.

Anyway, this guy is going nuts the entire time Dallas scored and just keeps getting louder and louder AND LOUDER. Everybody there wanted to kill him. Finally after Dallas scores their last TD, he STANDS on the table and yells

'What do you call a loser at Oscar's?'

'A PITTSBURGH STEELERS FAN!'

I was like 'check please.'

Oakland fans are bad because Oakland/Richmond are not safe communities, generally. It's less fandom and more general thugishness.

Hahaha good story. Multiple Coastal Carolina people on cowboyzone, who'da thunk? You're right though, in that it was very loud, and yes they did over exaggerate every single play. They would stop the Packers for a gain of two yards and cheer. Yet they would run the ball and only gain two yards and they would also cheer lol.

We all know that there is one in every crowd. That person that just bugs you to no end. And many are football fans. So if that person says something, you just kind of put it aside. It is not a reflection on their family or anything. But if the whole family ARE a bunch of jerks, then you can make the association. But there may be one person in the family that is OK. This is my weak attempt at an analogy.

So for me, I like to look at the whole. After going to games for 25+ years, it has been my experience that Pittsburgh fans were the worst. Yes, worse than Jets fans. And Miami and Buffalo fans you could have some fun with. Actually almost all teams were pretty much OK. Sorry, no experience with Eagle fans -- so I cannot make that judgment. Interesting, Eagle and Steelers fans in the same state.

As I have said on here before, Pittsburgh fans will come into your stadium and act like it is THEIR stadium -- and you get the "evil" eye. Well, hello, this is a football game. Lighten up already and have some fun.

I think it is a matter of respect. When you go into another teams stadium to watch a game, you should show some respect. And I don't care how bad a team is, show some respect for their fans and stadium.

And why were the Pittsburgh fans OK where you were?? Well, most likely because they were behind most of the game. What is there to "stick in your face"????

Sorry, but I do not like the Steelers fans, or the team.

But again, that is just my opinion. But I feel that I am objective, and do not try to "find something".

Well the only thing about that is that we were there about 6 hours before the super bowl started, so it's not like we got there and all of a sudden Green Bay started winning.

Yeah. Work today was GRRRREAT! This is true, though, in my experience. This guy at my work has been talking smack for the last TWO WEEKS. The poor soul seriously thought they would win. Today he's all
"well, it was a good game. All i wanted was to see the Steeler's logo in the endzone of ya'll's stadium." .....pffft. Right.

We've been clowning hard on this one friend of mine (steelers fan) who said..."well, sometimes the best teams have to lose." ...BWAHAHAHAHAH!!

It's great. Saw some straggler Steeler fans in town. I sped up next to them, rolled down my window and started to fake cry. It was greatness.

This makes me so happy.

Similar situation here.

Only one guy out of many steelers fans has said a word about it.

He said...that game sucked.

I said...well I was a little let down as well. He looked at me funny as he knows I hate the steelers. I said...I was a little let down because they did not break Ben's leg or other bones in his body.

He walked off. :lmao2:
