Editor's note: Second in a series detailing how former CU cornerback Jimmy Smith is preparing for the NFL draft in April. CARSON, Calif. — Jimmy Smith is hanging on for dear life.
His chin is perched precariously over a bar as his biceps and forearms shake like branches in a storm. His mouth is carved into a grimace you'd associate with someone undergoing an appendectomy without anesthesia.
He's in a pull-up position, with gravity torturing him, wearing what looks like a grenade-proof vest. Forty-five pounds of lead probably could stop a grenade. It's not stopping Zac Woodfin, one of the keys to Smith's NFL future, from barking orders like a traffic cop.

Not a fan.
Another guy who is a Brandon Harris clone. I don't like his ability to turn and run.
A cover 2 corner who looks more like a FS to me.
As of right now Aaron Williams from Texas is the 3rd best corner to me and if I had to put money on him or prince i'd probably take Williams.

I might be willing to take him in the 2nd, depends on what happens in FA

Really? Brandon Harris has all the tools to be a lockdown man corner..Harris is easily the 3rd best corner in this draft..

Isn't Jimmy Smith the one who only gave up like 11 completions over the past two seasons?
I only watched CU once this year, but Smith moves surprisingly fluid for his height. He doesn't change direction like he's 6'2.

I just don't really like him. Doesn't look like a guy that can turn and run to me. He's got stiff hips imo and is built to play Zone.

Both Jimmy Smith and his teammate Jalil Brown have coverage ability, but they were allowed to play with poor technique and sort of freelance ala the way Derek Ross would try to.
Beyond that, I don't like either one of them because they are both piss-poor in run-support.

I disagree 100%. He is very fluid and moves very well for a guy his size. He just has piss poor technique.

Problem is we might not have that luxury this year.

You don't like Harris? He had a bad game against ND, but he's legit. Don't know where you got he has stiff hips from !
I think Smith and Harris are tied for the 3 corner spot. Smith can be a stud. Same with Harris.

I like Harris in a Zone scheme.
I just think Aaron Williams is the best fit for us.

I don't agree with this.
He moves around with ease imo. Needs technique/coaching.

Jimmy Smith tackles like crap. I couldn't believe his lousy tackling technique watching his supposed 'highlights' on youtube. Not impressed by him although he's awfully young like now. Once his body matures and he puts on some weight, he might be a decent player in the NFL. But, I'm also NOT sure if they are many CB with his height (6'2") that can turn & run with the speed guys in the NFL. He had better run a 4.3 something to even have a chance in this league.
